POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I've written the odd poem since I was quite young but only recently have been making a concerted effort with poetry . . . I feel its my only creative outlet and there's quite a lot inside that needs to be let out!
The Tea Shop
In the midst of a bustling city
In the middle of my busy day
I sit here at my table
Letting the hustle flow by
All around me is a blur of noise
But I am cocooned in the moment
I choose to stay awhile
To savour my tea
And this present of peace
In the middle of my busy day
I sit here at my table
Letting the hustle flow by
All around me is a blur of noise
But I am cocooned in the moment
I choose to stay awhile
To savour my tea
And this present of peace

status quo
they’re at it again
the fucking pigs
grinding down
stopping searching
move on order
goods in custody
and their favourite
possession with intent
must be the end of the month
they got to make up their numbers
bloody stupid policy
if there’s no crime
there’s no crime
how can you
KPI a policeman?
always the same folks though
who cop it hard
those most in need
who don’t have a roof
they can hide under
or a door to close behind
like the pollies and celebs
who are racking hard
and rolling in cash...

That smile undoes me
Gap toothed grin
with a bit of a grind sometimes
(if you’ve been skating)
Your bright eyes
catch mine and
you’ve got me
You’re a ball of energy
Larger than life
(literally I thought you
were much bigger than
you are) I always know
when you’re
around
A true gentleman you
always check in
to make sure
I’m treating myself
and notice when I
change my hair or
wear a dress
Our lives are
very different but
I’d like you to
stay a while
in mine even if
we break...

Blue
She looks at him across the room. Eyes lock, blue grey on blue green. He’s quiet, still, stoned . . . but not smashed.
Its something she notices: he’s never a mess; always quiet, calm, controlled. Never wild like the others.
Every time she’s aware of his presence. Heavy. Intense. Blue green.
She could get lost in those eyes. Especially when the poison has made their pupils shrink.
Black dots adrift in a wild sea.
Their meetings are always quick, she’s nervous, unusually so. A polite phrase here and there. How are you? Nice weather. What are you reading?...

Morning Shower
a peaceful noise the rain
a constant soothing washing away
I lay here by the open door
and breathe in the scent of cool drops
the trees are washed clean of man made filth
the birds rejoice chirping as they shower
the soil drinks in its vital tonic
that roots greedily absorb and put to use
all is cleansed washed renewed this morning
even my busy mind has found some peace
a constant soothing washing away
I lay here by the open door

The Ritual
His silhouette leaning
focused on the ritual
combine, stir then draw
the point of silver
an arm outstretched
bated breath as he aims
a sigh when it hits home
relief and he leans back
a familiar dusk sets on his face
the slump now
scarcely a rise and fall
alert she leans in
pulls him back
deep breath darling
and again, that’s it
the pink returns
to cheeks, lips, ear tips
her hand laid on his chest
watching, counting
caring, waiting
until he sits up
blinks, stretches, sighs

Splinters
Crack! my heart
splinters my lungs
breathless my muscles
cramp my body
crumbles my being
stops.
This is how it felt when you walked away.

crumbles my being
stops.
This is how it felt when you walked away.
