POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
A stroll through nightmarish streets
A stroll through nightmarish streets
Crows caw in the lustrous moonlit evening
They nip away at the full moon leaving only
its pale crescent carcass
I walk the streets this temperate night
Something seems off...
Has the sky always had such a crimson complexion?
Perhaps it's my mind that has forgotten
The owl’s eyes seem larger than itself
They peer through me with its wise gaze
The sudden sharp crack of a skull startles me
I stride towards the scraping noise
The snowy silk flesh of a young daughter stripped from

Dreams shatter like glass
I
Eons since i’ve heard your name
Im trembling ...
The power to make me shudder, it has yet to relinquish
Your name’s a storm
Murmured like thunder echoed in a rainy night
Strikes me like lightning
Tingling traversing my body in a wave of torment
The smell of my singed flesh intoxicating me
The bittersweet taste of lament tiptoes across my tongue
Tears overshadowed by million plummeting droplets
shed by the clouds hovering above
The sky mourns with me tonight
Moonlight attempts to lull me to slumber
To have me...

Masks to hide a hostaged soul
Everyday new masks worn
To hide a soul taken hostage by shadows
But the eyes will never change
Same eyes that turn lustrous sunsets grey
Masks fit tighter and tighter by day
Slowly suffocating the breath of his life away
A stranger's cold eyes stare back in the mirror
The only thing seen of a face shrouded by darkened flames
Big smile booming laughter, the prancing jester has them all fooled
Silently begging someone to see
The cracks in the mask
That let soundless teardrops fall through unnoticed
Staring at the moon...
To hide a soul taken hostage by shadows
But the eyes will never change

Insomniac
I lay awake through dark nights
Unseduced by slumbers sweet whispers
My silent howls rain down by the moonlight
I am the sleepless cloud that drifts the sky.
I sit on my bed, rejoicing in the infinite silence
i’m the only person in the world
I stare out the window watching shadows dance in the night,
Watching stars peer through the thick dark, watching
Tree branches sway slightly in the gentle wind under the
Pale lamplight. There's nothing more beautiful than the silent
Wonder I gaze at from my tiny observatory, I like to lift ...

Tell me you'll cross oceans for me
I knew you’d never cross oceans for me
Though i’d cross the frozen threshold of hell, cross
The heavens, plunge from eden’s paradise, all for you
I burnt our bridges because that terrified me...
My soul was dancing around your pale fingertips
Though you were not aware, the power your name had over me.
To save you i’d bleed out into your hollow heart, because mine belonged to you.
If your sky colored eyes ever shed a tear, like clouds setting free
melancholy raindrops, slowly tracing your fine alabaster skin, i’d be there
Before your tears...

When a soldier comes home
He still treats me like a stranger
His eyes linger in the nightmares that torment
His solemn nights. He’s still at war, he never left
The battlefield. He was never meant to break
But I see the pieces of his old smile slowly
Crumbling. He’s howling at the moon in the nightfall
Unable to wash the blood from his calloused hands,
Desperately scraping them, yet it never comes off.
His depraved eyes look at me with bloodshot focus like
I’m another target. I want to understand his pain,
I want to know why he cries in his sleep,
I want...

Fractured Paradox
I am an old soul in the summer of my youth
Enjoying the sweet wine of juvenescence
Yet I hear the taunting whispers of death
I am the wintergreen pine tree that towers above all
But the sun. Yet my soul drifts, forlorn, like a brittle
Autumn leaf in the subtle winter winds.
My wings have taken me to the uncharted,
to worlds unknown across these star plagued skies
Yet I exist nowhere, I breathe in a timeless realm of
Nothingness, living a dark non-existence.
All the greatest glories of my youth’s desires I have attained
Yet...

Let us live like the flame
Perhaps time is but a human myth
A concept that allows us to understand our own
Mortality, our fleetingly fickle existence
Perhaps if humanity bathed in the fountain of youth
And death’s grip no longer stole us from this
Hellish paradise, perhaps in our immortality, like the
Moon and stars, existing in the vast darkness of infinite space
Perhaps then we would stop counting the days and years
And simply exist, simply live the way the flames that
Never stay embers do, just like the flames that burn
As strong and bright as the night’s...

Springtime of decay
The cherry blossoms are blooming
The coming of spring, the rejuvenation of nature and life
I see through these ancient lenses, with this blurry vision of mine
Men and women, basking in the sunlit glory of
Springtime’s youth. Like the rose tinted flowers that
The trees dare adorn this season, they rejoice in daylight
Absorbing its colorful gaiety. Yet not among them may
I frolic. I am the fallen petals at their side, slowly decaying
Unbothered by their immense shadow that shrouds the sun
In solemn mystery. Death's gate is within my sight

Job Interview
I dress myself up like a christmas present
All that’s missing is the bow.
Butterflies flutter within me, their wings
Hammering against my hollow insides, twisting
And intertwining with my internal organs.
I opened the door of opportunity and walked inside the
Uncertain future. I sit down, there’s a distortion in time
A blank space, tremors are spreading from the echoed footsteps
Of rampant zoo animals set loose within me. They call my name
I sit like an ornament in an office I hope to own someday.
I hand the judge my paper, the paper...

concepts of beauty
Eyes like stars
But she finds them too dull
Luscious ruby lips
Not full enough
Smooth curves, hourglass figure
Waist not thin enough, thighs without a gap
She shapes her body to the magazines
Cutting out the pieces that don’t fit
She covers her face with makeup
To hide her faults, her true skin
She wears long sleeves
To hide her scars
Chemicals sink into her pores
But they won’t make her look like the models on TV
Her scars can’t be seen but she still feels them
They’re etched deep into her silk skin ...

Beauty in Illness
I.
The voices in my head never stop
They overwhelm me like a pebble stuck
In an ocean’s tempest. The insidious screams
Of hidden devils torments my nights
So I paint their unheard whispers
On a wide blank canvas that can envelop
The secrets they share with me
II.
Everyday I drown in my own shadow
Through sundown and moonrise my misery
Encapsulates the sky and turns black the sultry
sun and stars. That darkness is my ink
With which I weave beauty upon a simple white page
From the ashes of nonexistence I bring...
