POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Continuous Climb
I thought I had finally reached the surface
Of this I was so certain
But then I awoke and found that
I have lost my grip once more
I feel as though I've fallen deeper
Much deeper than before
Now I must again start to climb
And hope that I'll gain a stronger grip
Before drifting off to sleep
One so strong that my demons
Are incapable of knocking me back down
Into this canyon so empty and deep
Of this I was so certain
But then I awoke and found that
I have lost my grip once more
I feel as though I've fallen deeper
Much deeper than before
Now I must again start to climb
And hope that I'll gain a stronger grip
Before drifting off to sleep
One so strong that my demons
Are incapable of knocking me back down
Into this canyon so empty and deep

A stranger to myself
I stand here toe to toe with the man
Unable to look at the stranger that I am
I know I'm still in there somewhere
Somewhere beneath the guilt and the fear
Everything I had built myself up to be
Came crashing down all around me
I'm trying not to let my heart shatter
As I pick up the pieces of me that mattered
I am suffocating in my closet of skeletons
Hoping that some day it will all make sense
As I face these demons all on my own
I realize that I am reaping what I've sewn.
