POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
When the curls start to speak
Tables can hold conversations too
I closed the screen
laid my head against
a cool wooden table
letting tears soak
through the hinge
because arms are
not always choices,
then I remember
every moment
I felt this way
remembering this
table once had a
home grounded
by forest roots,
how I carry you
through every
thread in my
blue veins.

Perhaps that's where it all must begin
Do you remember
that house you left
you know the one
with an unkept garden,
where vines crawl up
along brick walls
and a door screaming
for WD-40 to quench
it's neglected thirst?
It actually doesn't matter
how long you were absent
or even what happened
as ivy began curling
up in their spirals
but perhaps that's where
it all must begin again,
it starts with picking
up a rusty WD-40 can
as hinges start shining

In summer
We dream on
a brown sofa
without any
cushions
our hands
melding into
each other
like long
prayers
seeing
through
a rough
drought.

Anatomy of shame and regret
She rings me
trying to keep
her composure
I hear her
bottom lip
rumble on
every word,
I explain she
isn't a terrible
human being
trying to search
for something
only she can
understand,
shame arrives
in a bastardised
fashion running
on a special time
we don't seem
to know about
so tonight allow
regret one night
inside your bones,
tomorrow you will
celebrate rising
from it's ashes.

Dark water
I try getting to water
if clocks give me a chance,
she was made from water
but her words stand
like moons
so I go to the water
meeting my creator
lay down my
skull coloured
in dark maria,
knowing how
bodies speak
more volume
as my legs
slowly ball
inside my
chest.

The greatest compliment
was a stray
cat rubbing
it's fur along
the back of
my legs.

I will do it again
with very little,
cut by the last thread
of purpose
riding a train grinding
it's way to deep
country
in the middle of
nothing and nowhere,
I will do it again
as my scapula grinds
against the rail
and tracks
scream out
their last
spark.

I pass streetlights on the way home
remembering how I asked
what was it like being in a ring
with people screaming at you?
he explained you cannot see
anybody past two rows as
lights shine down on you,
once you understand this
nothing else really matters.

Never expect
to receive what
you never gone
out to seek.

Welcome to hippocampus
The slight raise
of an eyebrow
head gradually
tilting to the right,
i've been wearing
it since eleven
years of age
and the truth
is nobody ever
knows what's
happening,
lately i've been
less conversation
more draining out
disappointments
into my local
swimming pool
because my
hippocampus
isn't tolerating
discourses in
nonsense.

Gothicking
Haven't been to
Chaucertown since
I was a young one
but that was a
retreat where
you ate very little,
you had a secret
stash of sweets
waiting for you
because hunger is
a savage bastard
that doesn't settle
down for crumbs,
I think how odd
it all looks since
i've grown older
looking at tickets
costing a bomb
just to gaze into
place of worship,
how we wandered
around outside it
the evening before
like rebels without
sacrificing...

Void(age)
As a void
You start getting tired
seeing 120 feet away
of what's coming
and don't always
wish to see six times
lower in darkness than
the average human,
it gets exhausting
catching yourself
after the hardest
fall, then purring
to aid the bone
density you require
as a void
I wish to roll around
in sunshine, slow blink
at every flower that
softly blooms into
another season
let my eyes dilate
seeing my loved
ones faces, no hiss
or arched back...
