POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Poetry is my therapy.
Don't Cry My Precious Angels
Don't Cry My Precious Angels
Don't shed your tears my angels
For we will never be apart
Just because you cannot see me
I will forever be in your heart
I was called to be in the supreme place
That is way up in the big blue sky
Now whenever you see a colorful rainbow
It is me who will be coming to say hi
Whenever you feel the wind in your face
That is just me passing by
So I can dry the tears from your face
So you don't have to be sad and cry
When you go to bed at night
And you start counting sheep ...
Don't shed your tears my angels
For we will never be apart
Just because you cannot see me
I will forever be in your heart
I was called to be in the supreme place
That is way up in the big blue sky
Now whenever you see a colorful rainbow

Mother I Am Missing You
Mother
Mother, I've held your hand until the end
I've had the chance to see you through
Now you will be able to ascend
Mother, I am missing you
I will not consume myself with sorrow
As you would want me to only smile
Knowing that you will have your tomorrow
Will make all my todays worthwhile
When I look up into the skies above
And I see a rainbow peeking through
I'll know it's you showering us with love
Mother, I am missing you

No Sympathy From Me
No Sympathy From Me
What did you think when you became a mother?
Did you envision that it would be easy?
Like it would be just a walk in the park
Sunny, but not too breezy?
What did you think when things got hard?
That you could just walk away
And leave the children to their own devices
What a way to lead them astray
Your children are a reflection of you
So become what you want them to be
Nurture them as they grow
And always love unconditionally
But that is not how it was with you
As it...

Help Them
Help Them
Muted, whispering
Distraught, blistering
Help them
Masqueraded, misleading
Pondering, receding
Help them
Disillusioned, indifferent
Aggrieved, indignant
Help them

Change Your Story, Change Your Outcome
Change Your Story, Change Your Outcome
( Written for a Marine brother of mine who is almost out of harm's way. He is a domestic violence victim, soon to be survivor.)
Silence is the modus operandi of the spiritless ones
The ones who assume a false facade
The ones who always hope for the positive
Amidst all that is obviously flawed
They close their eyes and bow their heads
Considerably distraught and irrevocably broken
Like marionettes they spring up and listen
For when the offender has discernibly...

I've been in a poetic hiatus for a while.
This is the first stanza of my newest literary creation. The first stanza is all that I have right now.
Untitled
Alienation is unvarying when doing what is irreproachable
Sometimes
Why is this you ask?
It's when one does not concur with the mainstream status quo
And perseveres with what some deem as an impossible task
Alone

Don't you cry for me no more: Ode to Raundi
Ode to Raundi
Raise up your glasses
Fill it with wine
For you have a party to attend
Boy is it going to be divine
Merriment and laughter will be had
There will be plenty to go around
Break out your party horns
And get ready for some majestic sound
Let's see who has some stories to tell
As we all try to keep a straight face
Wearing sleep clothes or nothing at all
At least you won't be tripping on your shoe lace
If you don't see me during this shindig
Doesn't mean that I'm not there
You just don't see me mingling...

This country that I know
That Lady Liberty used to love
Land that is sweet no more
Cause of the dark clouds up above
Land where no freedom roams
Forced to leave it behind
Now we sing of it's woes
The chains that put it in a bind
Hear the cries of all that was
When her glory was aglow
Now she's been stifled still
She's been dealt a mighty blow
By the ones who were put on top
To ensure she cries no more
Now she is full of tears
She's ready to walk out that door
But wait, what is that I hear?...

Before you can change the world
Change the world within you
Before you can help change one's path
Change your own and start anew
Before you think you are going to quit
Stop yourself and try once more
You might be pleasantly surprised
Of what your future has in store
Before you think that you don't matter
Check what your past has told
What your present says now
Your future has so much left to unfold

Mama
Mama
Mama, can you hear me?
Can you feel my pain?
Have you ever wondered what
Has put me under so much strain?
Mama, can you hold me
Like you used to all those years ago
Snuggling in your warmth
With an everlasting glow
Mama, don’t you leave me
We have just begun
To start all over again
Each day like the morning sun
Mama, don't you hurt me
By setting me aside
And not looking back to see
If I have fallen down and cried

Only Me
Only Me
When you look into my eyes
What do you see?
Do you see a tortured soul
Waiting to be set free?
When you look into my heart
What do you feel?
Do you feel a sense of loss
Waiting for the chance to heal?
When you look into my past?
What do you find?
Do you find a life once lost
To which none were so kind?
When you see all that I am
What is there left to wonder?
We are meant to stay as one
For no one to put asunder.

On That Day (Ode to the fallen on that very somber day)
On That Day (Ode to the fallen on that very somber day)
Where were you on that day 13 years ago
Do you remember?
I was sitting at home
Just another cold day in September
It was a typical day of the week for me
As I was getting my kids ready for school
Never have I thought about
How the day was going to be cruel
I turned on the television
After my kids got on the bus
And I was wondering out loud
Why the news was making such a fuss
I watched what was happening in my home state
The state where Lady Liberty calls home...
