Poetic requiems
I would once weave
now haunting my
grim reality,
the death I have
penned of in poem,
comes now playing
cruel tricks
on me.
All useful thought
has evananesced
empty and void
from my mind,
meditate and seek
yet words not
worth their ink
is all I find.
Retire to den to gain
energy, I'm drained
plus have pain in
my head,

Floating on Daffodils
I know love at first sight sounds cliché
yet when I saw her in blue I just knew,
never found one who glowed golden aura
or suffused with a warmth I could feel.
(she floated on daffodil fields)
The first time going out
we strolled round the park
last summer at Madison Square.
She wanted to see
the hydrangea display
(nice thought but it's not really me)
While walking through blossoms
I got lost in her eyes
rainbow petals strewn through her hair.

o~ Game. .of. .Spades. ~o
I didn't stay with her too long,
knew mother would never approve.
Kept the girl for three days
in a good sized steel cage
since Blackie died it hasn't been used.
Don't know why mother won't like her
she's the one who first found Yvonne,
standing in line for the baker
mother had told me to take her,
said I'd get with the girl later on.
Mother loved Yvonne's golden hair
so did I, for as long as I could.
But I knew I should hide her
lest mother should find her
since I can't see a girl who's not good.

"News Junkie"
Hustle, grinding, running, texting,
stop the headlines: "Cops are sexting!"
Reporting news to feed the beast,
chat up dudes I like the least.
Losers in their suits and tans,
interviews and shaking hands,
chasing dreams, the breaking story
bury boring, lead with gory.
If it bleeds then it will lead,
feed the folks just what they need,
kick the bastards when they're down,
build a church and burn the town.
Stick your mic in frowning faces,
jetting off to awful places.
If you're a female..(don't get old!) ...

o~ Theater of Sun and Moon ~o
Act 1 ~
o~ Curtains drawn ~ Morning breaks: ~o
Darkness casting out light with avarice
Moon rises shining bright, overshadows Sun
Dimming glow, veiled Moon shrouds stage left
Creeping in, Moon looms, seeking more face-time
Soon, Moon is full and beaming, stealing scene
Vanity prompts his demands for sudden darkness
Orange Moon bullies Sun into setting head and hiding
Fulvous halo encircles Moon, rising new he murders Star

poetic
requiems
we once weaved
I've resurrected.
Yet you
believe these
tiny elegies
were just
puerile
desires
born of
naively
penned
intentions.
Endless
yearnings
for your
succor
have turned
my aura
black.
Soon you'll
venerate
sacred
sanctuary
proffered.
Cage you,
clip wings
offer
forever
sanctum

heart-shaped
coffer.

o~ Pebble dust ~o
Collected
fragment-webs
strung
in thoughts
clung
upon
thin strands
lost in time
you claim I
only hold
sandy
dust
of tiny
pebbles
washed ashore
within oceans
of our mind.
Claiming
shared events
were mainly
juvenile
intents,
long ago when
I thirsted you
(you could barely
stomach me)
Desperately
I seek solutions
to assure
that you'll be back,
restore putrescent
aura cancer
permuting ...

The last bag
She told me to grab her luggage
from baggage claim at the airport
she had 3 mammoth suitcases
packed with her failed aspirations:
tennis and skiing equipment, just some of the crap she
"intended" to use while on vacation...but never did.
I snagged her bags as they rolled out,
struggling to lift them off the conveyor belt
as I grunted my disapproval.
She sneered, "What kind of baggage is so heavy
that you cannot pick it up!"
I snapped, "Bitch, we have lots of heavy baggage
like those divorce papers I found...

Elixir-fixing Cure
Drinking early breakfast of a winner
though swigging cold beer can be draughty
but warming up with soothing scotch
preludes the act of sipping liquid lunch
top off the day with after-dinner shots.
Buzzing throughout each trying day
requires certain elixir-fixing cures
forgetting names and places been
then losing track of time that's lost
blame it on age and worn-out brain.
Those golden drops how sweet they are
a well-dressed señor has cracked a keg
no stifled flows or empty chalice
no tempered feelings of verve or...

Bones break boy
Bones within begin
poking out
provoking
release from body cage
The child within craves
freedom
but dares not
run away
Finding place of comfort
within space that is known
Frustration slices ribs
rattles body from within
blades saw with jagged slashes
working to pierce the outer skin
Child breaking his own arm
to make
it easier to unchain
Slipping out of shackles
he trembles from the pain
still savors thirst for victory
inspiring him with hope
Hammer's hand ...

Wicked Hummingbird
A wicked hummingbird plucks
~ star's sparkle from the sky ~
The prowler tucks
it within
his pocket
beneath camouflaged
lichen-hopes
and hidden
aspirations
Child steals
a flashing glance
tracking unsuspecting
father's wandering eyes
as they're coveting
a strange woman
Like the hovering Selasphorus
the amateur begins to learn sport
of extracting
squirming flies
from distracted
spider's web
As evening unfolds her arms
families plug-in
and disconnect

~ Peeked inside my Head? ~
Have you peeked inside my head?
May see some things you'd rather not
like tweaked and bitter thoughts
You'll find a wire hanger inside
~ Mommie Dearest would be upset ~
I keep it hanging round if
ever compelled
to hang my head
Pills are there too
helping me maintain:
*
* Prop me Up *
* Knock me Out *
*
Doc says those
he's doling out
are really dope
and fix my brain
Don't look too far in my head
I'm afraid of what...
