POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I write...I lie....I remember...I'm dead.
Looking for you...
I find you are the hardest thing for me to analyse
Collected years of suffering are hidden in your eyes
Although you show such happiness I know your pain runs deep
Held within a broken heart lest I should hear you weep
The essence of you bound and gagged my sighting of it brief
Skilfully you hide from me your talisman of grief
My heart it breaks to see you fighting back your threatened tears
Oh to kiss those trembling lips and banish all your fears
It hurts to see the single tear slip slowly down your face
The entrance to your being is a sad and...

Tree of Life...
In shadows we lived, our lives along side our lives where conscious moments fell in step, a parallel universe of light and shade beside our darkness. It was there behind a looking glass of yearning I touched you and was touched by you. Those were the moments when we wandered from the path and found a road on which only the two of us could travel and where nothing of the tainted world that trudged on beside us could enter, or even had meaning. Together we planted a seed in that place, in a place where we could nurture it, as it became a true part of our growth.
It was there our true...

Beneath the shallow mystic moon, where life plays by a different tune,
A pathway from the moonlight shone, upon the supernatural one,
The heart of you, the soul you bear, deaths congregation meets you there.
Congealing thoughts of love and hate, where blind emotion seals your fate.
It pulls you in that darkened space and holds you in its feeding place
As past raps on your weakened door and seeps through cracks beneath the floor.
The memories that passed you by, come back to haunt you till you die.

That Place...
I looked for the stone where the note was left
It was so long ago,
and I know, I was living in hope of nothing.
I just wanted to find it, that connection,
find what was lost to me,
to feel, to see,
recall the sweetness of the memory.
The place wasn’t the same,
seemed smaller, less intimate,
standing at the gate, looking in.
I was caught in the moment for a while,
blinked away a tear,
Remembered the fear, the excitement,
and for a second felt the depth of loss again.
In that place which had once been our domain,
It felt...

One more step...
Such vibrations, in my fingertips,
As tremors run beneath my soul
That you would stand with me
On ice so thin
And should it break or shift
What then my love
Do we really know if we could swim?
Within those cold and blackened depths
Where would we be?
I try to see
But lose the sight of who we were
The sight of who we want to be
Feel blinkered in the darkness
Yet know that you are truly lost to me
Within your soul still searching...
Could ‘we’ truly be?
Survive the freeze beneath the ice?
Find silence in that place?
Within...
As tremors run beneath my soul
That you would stand with me
On ice so thin
And should it break or shift
What then my love
Do we really know if we could swim?

Sweet Comfort
I close my eyes and dream a dream
of strangers so unknown to me
that float within my silent nights
and tell me things I’ve never heard.
They edge themselves up close to me,
engulf me in their mystery,
its then I close my eyes again
tight shut, tight shut,
they hold me there.
Within my thoughts within my mind,
no longer blind
to whispers in my psyche and soul,
these people softly call.
Those whispers through subconscious thought,
they tell me things they think they...

that float within my silent nights

They edge themselves up close to me,

Broken
The sun shone above as the darkness came
And her warmth turned to bitter cold
The graves loomed large where the corpses lie
In the earth so dank and old
She walked condemned to beat of her heart,
To the thud of her life deep inside
Head hung low with a tear in her eye
As the warmth in her chest slowly died
And there she remained in the core of the dead
Amongst all the morbid decay
To place a red rose with an ache in her soul
At the thought it would just fade away
Where beauty had...

Emotional Battleground
In tempest of a conscious storm
where hurricanes of thoughts reform,
torment rides a guilt parade,
its sufferance a lone crusade.
Worries came with brutal force
to plunge their swords through deep remorse
while howling tongues of hidden ghouls
lacerate those fearsome fools.
A battleground of mind is set,
where love and hope with hate are met.
in clash of weapons wars commence
and past exerts its recompense.
Tremors shake a pounding head
and lightening forks of notions spread.
torrents of hot...

Fractured Soul...
I begged to forget you, I pleaded with me,
Don't you see?
Without your memory, I can exist again
Forget the pain.
But that poignant reminder of mice of men
Is the simple thread that binds me,
Beseeches and reminds me.
always...
That a fragment of my soul is still missing.
Don't you see?
Without your memory, I can exist again
Forget the pain.
But that poignant reminder of mice of men
Is the simple thread that binds me,
Beseeches and reminds me.
always...
That a fragment of my soul is still missing.

Silent Call...
I heard you call me
Alone behind my barricade I heard you call
But yet I closed my mind, I closed my heart
Pretended for a second
There was no you calling me beyond that wall
So many things restricted me
Kept me there, kept your words away from me
But still you called
I felt the space between us shift
You shook my world within my sanctuary
You shifted me
And then, I could not breathe,
I could not think
My reservations fell apart
I whispered on my breath for you to see
You really were a part of me
Murmured words I knew you...
Alone behind my barricade I heard you call
But yet I closed my mind, I closed my heart
Pretended for a second
There was no you calling me beyond that wall
So many things restricted me
Kept me there, kept your words away from me
But still you called

You shook my world within my sanctuary
You shifted me

I could not think

In Loving Memory...
Did you really enter my shadows and trade your secret whispers,
breathe lies into my emptiness, like tendrils of a touch on barest skin.
I thought of you, how you came to me,
unlocked you for a second from my mind,
remembered you. In loving memory, I doubt I know of what?
I wonder,
Did you ever think within that soft caress of tenderness?
that trembled on the threads of my existence
that you somehow found me there?
Your wistful words that rested spiteful tones upon my conscience
touched me in every way.
In all of that, I...

At the end of the day....
Looking at my phone, and hearing the noise as it flashes ‘battery low’, hoping it has the energy to carry ‘I love you’ over the airwaves. Watching the time, my heart beat counting down, a dream world of shutdown, log out, goodbyes, not hearing, not listening, not caring, just one thing on my mind, to be out there.
A breath and I’m calling you and in a moment, it kills your voice, my words, battery depleted, last chance gone, a sigh from my lips and the words I love you carried on into the silence, and for a moment, I’m alone with my thoughts, the phone lifeless in my hand.
