Fork in the Road
Skipping down life's road one day
Whistling in a merry old way
Came to a fork in the road
Couldn't choose, so I followed the toad
He hopped down a slippery slope
Jumped off a bridge, swung on a rope
I was close behind
Thinking I'm out of my mind
He slowed, and paused on a rock
Turned around I stopped my walk
"Why are you following me
Don't you have somewhere to be?"
I didn't know what to do
I followed this frog without a clue
Now we're here, in this...

#55b: Who What Why
Competition entry, A Light in the Attic (reversed)
Ring ring
Hello, Why here, who's calling.
No, not Who, I'm What. I'd like to talk to Who.
Ok, who do you want to talk to?
That's right, Who!
What's right?
No, not What. I'm What. Who. Who are you?
I'm Why. Who's calling?
Who's not calling, I'm What.
Let's see if I got this, you're What, I'm Why, and you're looking for who?
That's right.
What's right? Answer the question.
I'm What and I'm looking for Who!
who?
Yes.
Yes, what?
Not...

Where can I hang my hat
I walk to the beat
Of a drunken drummer
Stumbles, slides
Teetering, glides
I have fear
That I won't return
Leave today
No more tomorrow
Others have left
They're so far ahead
How did they get there
What books have they read
Daily I return home
Yet yearn to go home
A magical place
Where Ma and Pa took care
What holds me back
Others say I'm great
Don't know bout that
Seems I'm awfully late
Go to work
Tasked to think
Wonder great thoughts
And put them in ink ...

Well written poems
Are too short
Variation of following quote by Jane Austen
"If a book is well written
I always find it too short"

Warped Drive
If Captain Kirk is auctioning unused hotel rooms
What can the future hold for me?
Twenty-eight years of grind, retirement looms
Five more years to reach the golden key.
Children have finished college, starting to bloom.
Mortgage payments continue, owing without owning.
Working for the check without purpose, continue groaning.
Melancholy, prolong, repetitive, unclear....
Never piloted a star ship exploring new worlds
My life, the final frontier...

Time flows
Time keeps flowing.
Years drifting by.
Family, friends, companions, sharing and enriching souls.
Some are near, others are far, too many have passed beyond.
All kindred spirits, close in the mind's eye.
Time keeps flowing.
Years drifting by.
What does it add up to, all these years?
Are they only gifts from nature, as the sun goes 'round?
Or something more, as we walked together along paths too short.
Some before us have done history proud, or so the books say.
Most signature don't remain past the tomb.
All have activities, laughs,...

Curtains
Sunlight slips through the curtains
Sparkling, sprinkling, opportunities of the day
Simple visions, things to do, places to go
Work, doctor, groceries, laundry, cooking turned meals
Weaving opportunity with challenges
Starlight slips through the curtains
Sparkling, sprinkling, memories of yesteryear
Simple visions, dancing with the sandman
Family, friends, companions, spouse, children turned adults
Weaving laughter with tears

Soul Shine
Occasionally you feel pained and exhausted
Sometimes you seem unattractive
You may think you are unaccomplished
Do not hide
Parts that are broken
From fear of people
Who are incapable of enjoying
Less than perfect
Sunlight penetrates broken glass
Illuminating darkness beyond
Open the blinds, throw up the shades
And let your soul shine out
Sometimes you seem unattractive
You may think you are unaccomplished
Do not hide
Parts that are broken
From fear of people
Who are incapable of enjoying
Less than perfect
Sunlight penetrates broken glass
Illuminating darkness beyond
Open the blinds, throw up the shades
And let your soul shine out

Who is this visitor?
Who is he?
A clever, hiding disease.
What does he do?,
Causes pain, loss of control, confusion.
When will he leave?
He won't go away. An unwanted guest that is here to stay
Where is he?
He's occupying more spaces.
Is he growing?
He's getting stronger, producing more pain, more confusion, more locations, more intensities, more sensations like dizziness, weakness, stabs, jolts, lightning strikes, pins and needles.
What does he look like?
He is invisible, companions can not see...
