POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I started at age 13 fueled by angst and anger, not for poetry, but to describe the scenes and characters and their raw reality, to get it written to remember, this happened. this is not a work of fiction, this, sadly is my reality.

to the casket
Stand by my casket and witness
The truth I begged to speak with persistence
The torment I endured, hidden from sight
Pushed me to the brink of suicide each night
But with pen and paper, I finally realized
I was already dead, my fate crystallized
My white leather jacket, my final attire
Red lapels stained from my self-inflicted desire
Drugs kept me numb, but truth cannot be denied
I ignored the warning signs, walked with eyes wide
You are not the cause of my sorrowful tale
I knew my attempt was bound to fail
Self-inflicted wounds left...

Street Kids
We tear through nights
like wrapping on a Christmas present.
laughing as we look behind to see how far we've let ourselves go.
It's all madness isn't it?
The figures are made of shadow only for the night.
We won't be seen in daylight.
How did we arrive?
Sorry, mister.
I'm just having some trouble taking this in.
You see a runaway and you hurry to look away
Go and disguise your contempt.
All the guile and filth headed right to your room and your sheets of silk.
So 4 in the morning is reserved for us, what are you doing then? ...

Memoires of a troubled child
They don't write books about men like me, no one would even think to. The drug addicted son, the father who had to leave to keep living. I was in a thousand different universes before I even left my hometown. Each book another week I didn't exist. It came again, this feeling of displacement, you drop a golf ball in a full glass of water, my emotions being the spill left on the counter, my life being the golf ball. I'm not quite the man I imagine myself to be, the man of resolve, of will that could only bend under immense circumstance, the loss of the only normalcy one knows in life, for...

Searching for Self
The world's still screaming
And the nights and days they roll
Just like a wave
Slowly eroding you
Until you give way
I'm searching for something to hold
Something that gives meaning
Two little girls call me dad
And I'm ashamed
Of all the chances I've had
Yet missed or neglected
Let me live up to that name
Or title
And God I know they deserve so much better than me
The wayward son who forgets his Bible
I'm lost in space
In a coma
shipwrecked at sea
Living in someone else's world ...
And the nights and days they roll
Just like a wave
Slowly eroding you
Until you give way

Daddy's road
Daddy I'm just tired
I just can't catch a break
My stomach is empty
And my hands have the shakes
It's been a long damned road
That I can't seem to escape
The miles been hard
And my body it aches
Remember this son
You'll be glad when it ends
Take what you can
Give the rest to your kin
A man feels power in a gun
Yet can kill with his pen
Your words carry such weight
They'll make your amends
And when it's all said
You'll make them your friends
Nothing gets better with age
Just harder to begin

mirrors
its often he finds himself wondering through the stairwells of thought
shadows of past fears jump off the dim lit walls
urging him to stop
it's the only few moments
he's able to forget the struggle
escape the storm in which hopelessness poors down
diminishing him to another puddle
this is when the moment of clarity would prove useful
instead of being detained by selfishness
keeping friends from being truthful
the energy needed to be productive has long since been deserted
occupied by the pain hes use to without it he'd be...

Your best at being you
Here and now even if I save you,
they will probably find a reason
to set you up and blame you
a heart of gold and a mind of steel
they'll hold you out by a rope and hang you
while they point and stare like its not real
no one will stop
no one will even whisper
they have problems they won't drop
which all seem so much bigger
all your questions go unanswered
while they taunt and laugh
and look at you like you've been tampered
just because your the one who different
and you can't let go of a thing called standards
even if you've not...

The mirror of the city
I am non-existent in the heart of the city
A shadow in the distance as Im sitting
in the stupor of a the drug trying to hit me,
A figment of the imaginative Users consciousness,
A painting in a dim lit alley where only vagrants pass,
Unable to be appreciated for its beauty due to its placing.
The only shrines of the poor filled up in a mason,
Hated by the world for being different it's wasted,
Down the drain of another used up cliche.
Rarely apprehensive to the cultural whore's taste in fine art,
timidity stops him from acclimating to his potential...

the needle is my only friend
All I wanted was to ease this pain
So I stabbed the needle in another vein
I watched the scenery change again
I hugged the needle like it was my friend
Where to go now
What to do now
I sit and wait for the answers to come
But where on earth will they fall from
I hope heaven is what I expected
The drugs are just what I accepted
And now there all I have

Depart from your castle, King of the stars
Let the earth be your resting place
The heavens spewed you out
With pedals from the wilted flowers
Your enemies died in battle
Drenched in the blood of your fathers
You conquered many kingdoms
The night air be your traveling ground
And the cold your comfort
Knowledge of you is scarce indeed
With the hands of the dead holding your crown
The victor remains in the realms of the forgotten
Let the earth be your resting place
