Nicotine
I call myself nicotine
Infectious little smiles that cause rings around your eyes
Ignite me
We can just blow smoke tonight
I like to get caught in your lungs and steal your breath away
I'm fire with your sight roaming
When there's nothing more to say
Free me outside
Letting you watch me dance away with no need for goodbyes
I twist around your torso and mingle in with the fabric of your clothes
Unable to be contained
I am at home floating in space
I remain in the ashes on your doorstep
Waiting for the wind to sweep me away ...
Infectious little smiles that cause rings around your eyes
Ignite me
We can just blow smoke tonight
I like to get caught in your lungs and steal your breath away
I'm fire with your sight roaming
When there's nothing more to say
Free me outside
Letting you watch me dance away with no need for goodbyes
I twist around your torso and mingle in with the fabric of your clothes
Unable to be contained
I am at home floating in space
I remain in the ashes on your doorstep
Waiting for the wind to sweep me away ...

Wrong Side of a One Way Street
Take this knife
To my heart
Melodramatic
But its part of the charm
I'm tattooed with your arms
Cocooned in your embrace
Bruised from your kisses
And collapsing from the chase
Drooling over bombing men
Raining down in the dry heat
Invading the impoverished places
You once claimed clean
There is a lake near my hollow feet
I could walk on the surface
I cannot spot my reflection
Only the place we're supposed to meet
Collecting smooth stones
Ripples untraceable
I'm lipstick stains on your pillowcase
Permanent but...

Next to You
I don't think you can sense my hand on your shoulder as you sleep
That's not what matters
I can feel you breathing beside me
I twirl my fingers through the sun stroked plains of your back
Hoping not to wake you
Counting the seconds between your heartbeats
And the collapsing of your chest
My limbs only want to slide down beside you
But you are so peaceful
And I only wish to stare as you extend your stay with the sky
I consider lifting my hand
Realizing it is magnetized to your nearly still frame
And I don't think you sense my hand on your...

Losing You
I am rubber
Years old and cracking
Stick your syllables upon me
Etch me with your tongue
I retain the heartbeats of no one
But I feel your footsteps with every brush of the earth
I still consume the nicotine on the laces
The Jager you spit into the dirt
Collapsing in upon your physicality
It’s the only evidence that proves
You exist somewhere
Falling a continent away with every keystroke
The empty letters your hand never wrote
Ghost in the wind
But I can still feel the breeze
You are the Atlantic Ocean when I can only...

Relapse
Did you see the phantom in the wind?
I swear he was just standing there
Not motionless
But resting
His limbs were unaware
Did you hear the phantom calling my name?
It rolled off his tongue like a slight breeze
It's calling me now
Didn't you hear his whisper release?
Did you sense the phantom in your bones?
He was close enough to touch
But far enough to be alone
I swear he's sliding through my skin
He's unraveling my hair
He's tensing my hands
And stealing my air
Do you not miss the phantom now he's gone?

Attack
His jaw was swollen. A thick red bruise quickly began forming, tracing the outline of an unfamiliar fist and uninvited rings. His tooth had bitten a hole into the side of his cheek after his head had made contact with the cement a rough pair of hands pushed him toward. He’d opened his eyes, now blurred with disorientation, to see the sole of worn leather from an old pair of Chucks as they crept there way and compacted his face. Dirt crystals embedded themselves into the side of his temple and remained as unwelcome souvenirs in his hair. The cut above his eyebrow was bleeding profusely drawing...

For the Boy
Take some magic dust
Spill the rest
Lose your wishes in the mess
Take your saw
Cut my thread
Chiseled down
But still in your head
I hope I’m still in your head
You were the slaughter
I was the lamb
Unflinching as you placed your hand
Up my skirt
Down my dignity
Sacrificed in the place of your bigotry
You the boy that builds towers
You’re the boy that makes breaks
You’re thee boy that aims for the skyline
But only ends with killing space
Corner me down deep after obliterating all the light
You’ve wasted so much time...

Poster Child
She is restless beneath her skin
A good half inch in between their arms
And her ivory barriers
Cello string veins
Out of tune with constrained pitches
Swallow her piano key teeth
Attempting to break free
The notes she is undeserving of
Collateral damage etched on the inside
Of her tapestries of red
The scarlet letter
But her body is the ostracized
Can they not see the ribbons she laced up to her knees?
Endeavoring to console the broken hinges
With which she blames too much
With which she blames everything
All her fault...

Smoke
It's the pieces that are missing
They ruin the whole fucking picture
Now there are trenches bursting
Bombarding the dry land
Taking with the deception of borrowment
I was foolish to think we were infinity
Like the barricades built inside would vaporize the water
Extinguishing the candles
You were a wick I was not ready to blow out so soon
Your slippery and famished smoke does not bother to linger
You do not dwell in spaces that were once home
I am left only with oxygen screaming reminders of your lacking
Of fulfillment
I am...

And in that moment
We were so very
Distant
As if we saw but did not comprehend
Feeling nothing more than a brush of an emotion
Slightly lingering from excess electricity
But we wait until it blends into the skin
Ever thickened by lack of words
Syllables to stop the inevitable
And now we've forgotten how to speak
As if our sympathetic energy is conducive to setting fire
We fear there are too many trees
Too much debris
And the flame's supply will be never ending
We fear the unstoppable
Just as easily as...

Waterfall to Infinity
It was a waterfall
I had thought I'd reached the end
But riptides are disguised so mysteriously beneath the white
Foaming
A ravenous beast
And its ceaseless consumption
Has devoured me
Acid smoke
Chronic illness to which I am predisposed
Comatose
It is the heaviness on my lids
Slowing the blinks until all I see are
The ironclad handcuffs
Made in memory of me
I had thought I'd reached the end
But riptides are disguised so mysteriously beneath the white
Foaming
A ravenous beast
And its ceaseless consumption
Has devoured me
Acid smoke
Chronic illness to which I am predisposed
