LOVE POEM

Realization
She was the most selfless person
How could she possibly fall
For the most selfish man
She could have served him the world
On a silver platter
It would matter
He wouldn't treat her better
Sadly she forgot that she deserved more
She forgot to love herself
So busy making sure he had it all
He took her whole heart
Drained it of all it's magic
He knew he could never love her
Not the way she was meant to be
But he still awakened her emotions
And just watched as she was drained
She was once free
Until she became trapped in his fire...
How could she possibly fall
For the most selfish man

Black Lives Matter
We're not supposed to talk about it
Talk about how racism still exists
We're supposed to hang our heads low
And not let our anger show
They expect us to just endure
The beatings, the murders, the torture
The same ones who should protect and serve
They don't think the black man deserves
Deserves the respect, deserves his rights
And what are we supposed to do
Sit back and not fight
I fear for my future son
To have to explain to him
That there's no such thing
As equality
Not in this world
They only see what they choose to see...
Talk about how racism still exists
We're supposed to hang our heads low
And not let our anger show
They expect us to just endure

Sit back and not fight

Unapologetically Me
I'm not perfect
I don't even wish to be
All of my flaws
Are what make me unique
I can be very sensitive
I wear my heart on my sleeve
I try to have a tough shell
But inside everything is sweet
Sometimes I get stubborn
I like to have my way
Other times, I bend too much
Trying to show others grace
I tend to get an attitude
Usually when I'm annoyed
Or when I feel like I'm not treated
The way I know I deserve
My smile is so vibrant
It can brighten up a room
My pain has never changed it

If I die
If I were to die today
I hope I knew how you felt
Did you give me everything you could?
Are you sure nothing was left unsaid?
Don't mourn my loss if you gave me your all
Otherwise, I hope you cry yourself to sleep
Drink yourself to misery
Because you had the chance
To do right by me
And you lost it
Thinking I would never leave
Now just let me rest in peace
That much you owe me.

Reflection
I looked at my reflection
And finally admired her
The woman looking back at me
I saw her true beauty
Her strength and tenacity
The pain behind her eyes
The fight behind her smile
I saw her worth
So I decided to treat her better
She deserves the world
And I am going to give it to her.

Back In Time
Take me back to a simpler time
When playing barbies was the only thing on my mind
When there was a true meaning to friends
Relationships weren't so quick to end
The only thing causing stress
Was passing my math test
Not life's test
There is no passing this
My tears were always wiped from my eyes
But I have become invisible when I cry
All my scars were minor
Something mom could easily cure
Now my wounds run too deep
Wounds that can't be easily seen
I hide my pain
Not like anyone would care anyways
People are so consumed with...

Praying Woman
You ever had a woman pray for you?
Get down on her knees and pour her heart to God for you
Not just a simple prayer, but really speak blessings onto you
And if you can't pray for yourself, she'll intercede for you
Because she sees something in you
She's not praying to receive gratitude
But because she has seen the favor of God
She knows the power of spending 10 minutes with God
Take some time to get to know Him
Just a moment to say hey and thank Him
See if it doesn't change the way you view things
You might see yourself differently

Eight Minutes
Eight minutes was all I needed
To make the final decision
That you were no good for me
To run through my mind
All that we had
All that it meant to me
And all that it never meant to you
In eight minutes
I made up my mind
That you would never change
And it was time to walk away
From everything I once wanted
To find everything I deserve
