Apologia
To rhyme in verse
In language terse
Is thought by some
To be perverse.
But it’s good fun
To range among
The many words
With meanings one.
So here’s to “them
What lifts the pen”
To scribble verses
now and then
To titillate
Their fellow men.
In language terse
Is thought by some
To be perverse.
But it’s good fun
To range among
The many words
With meanings one.
So here’s to “them
What lifts the pen”
To scribble verses
now and then
To titillate
Their fellow men.

Why Marry?
Why marry? is the parrot cry
Of our new avant-garde
All the joys without the hassles
Marriage is far too hard!
Has marriage then no-recompense
For tandem-living’s stress?
No bliss denied to those unwed
Hell-bent on “happiness”?
Hassles make for character
When tackled by a team
Each partner finding strength and joy
From mate-ship’s love unseen.
Despise not then the Lord’s command
To live in wedded state
And leave the smart unwedded ones
To learn the truth too late.
Of our new avant-garde
All the joys without the hassles
Marriage is far too hard!
Has marriage then no-recompense
For tandem-living’s stress?
No bliss denied to those unwed
Hell-bent on “happiness”?
Hassles make for character
When tackled by a team
Each partner finding strength and joy
From mate-ship’s love unseen.
Despise not then the Lord’s command
To live in wedded state
And leave the smart unwedded ones
To learn the truth too late.
