Sometimes I forget how to speak

The silence gives me too much time
Contemplating different endings
Wondering what your thinking
Too much time with my own mind

I reach down and stroke your hair
It helps quiet my thoughts
It brings me a strange peace
Feeling you lying there

As our bodies become aligned  
Laying beside you
Saying I love you
Those are the words I needed to find

Building citadels from syllables
Living characters from consonants
Oceans formed from sentences
And vowels turned into continents

Worlds made from speech
Creation in the structure
Nations built on paragraphs
Every turn of phrase a sculpture

Artwork made of adjectives
Empires risen from verbs
Proposals with prepositions
Words turned into suburbs

Melody in the writing
A delivery of emotion
I gifted you a universe
With the things I have spoken
