POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I live in and out of Dreams, careful to heed their warnings and interpret their symbolisms. I write from ideas uncovered there, people and beasts met there and situations never meant to be real in our sad reality.
If
If you knew my emptiness
would you try to fill me in?
If you knew my desperation
could you make it a little easier for me?
If you knew the depths of my sorrow
would you find a way to make me smile?
If you suspected my loneliness
could you be there for a little while?
If you saw how dark my night was
would you light a small candle for me?
If you saw I run out of tears
could you wet my dry eyes with yours?
If you saw my pills were gone
would you realize I was at the end?
If you found me under that tree...
would you try to fill me in?
If you knew my desperation
could you make it a little easier for me?
If you knew the depths of my sorrow
would you find a way to make me smile?
If you suspected my loneliness
could you be there for a little while?

Descent
I swear it wasn't always like this, for once,
I claimed the mind of a sane man
But madness came seeping in
powering my paranoia
Lofty thoughts of unreal dangers
Unseen specters, lurking, waiting
Nervous tensions, racing, beating
Waking dreams of countless horrors
Laughing when I should be crying
Hiding when I should be screaming
Begging when I should be fighting
Shaking when I should be seeking
Sweating when I should be planning
Swearing when I should be praying
Striking when I should be listening ...

Stormfront
My head is filled with the low rumble of distant thunder
Threatening and creeping closer.
Occasional lightning flashes with sharp cracks of noise.
Momentary blindness followed by fading negative after images.
But no rain. Just boisterous echoes of storms that never arrive
Just nervous anticipation that is never quelled by closure.
Noise and light ever in the background of my mind.
Static filling the spaces between actual sounds and thoughts.
Relentless and foreboding. Incessant and maddening.
No peace. No rest. Awaiting weather that...

Share Your Life
Flashes of Hope you see
coming out of a long depression.
At first you don't recognize them
for what they are.
But then they come more frequent
and you learn to bind them together.
You choose to live again and
your brain chemistry actually alters.
Your friends never really left you.
That was the isolation You chose.
Some things you have to face alone
and hopefully you emerge wiser.
The best you can do is just be there
for another in their time of need,
as that isolation and darkness
need not always be endured.

The Edge
The Edge awaits you, although you may never see it,
it waits just the same
The Edge welcomes lost souls, to try their nerve,
to test their fortitude.
The edge is definitive. Walk up to it. Stand still.
Put your toes just over it.
Outstretch you weary arms. Close your eyes.
Breathe slowly.
Behind you are all your troubles.
All your reasons for being there.
All the possibilities the future holds
you are so willing to forfeit.
Ahead of you lies the Great Unknown.
Perhaps everything. Perhaps nothing.
You stand so still...

Seeking Answers Under
Long have I sought the answers
to my life's myriad questions
hidden just beneath the skin
I open, looking, bleeding, crying
elusive meanings slip my view
new scars mark missed opportunities
I never give up, never give in
so much flesh left yet to search
one part mystery, two parts madness
Buying new blades, guilty, excited
the tools of the truth, of my secret
This useless process has to end
I mean to forever pursue my need
The answers I'll not die without
But I changed my tactics, my methods
for instead of...

A Tale of Places in 5 Haikus
In my cellar home
forever hid from the world
always cool and dark
Days spent reading books
in a world all of my own
on my little cot
I imagine earth
Places I will never see
just on printed page
Look over the sea
View the endless desert plains
The vastness of sky
Ever denied me
my deformities condemned
by my Christian dad

Rider in the Void
I float silently through the void of deep space
enclosed in a pod that protects me from interstellar radiation
A lifeless state of suspended animation but aware & dreaming
In my timeless years I have created countless languages only I know
I have solved equations so vast it would takes years to explain one
I have pondered concepts so complex entire planet bound species
have spanned their whole evolution and died before my synopsis
I have been scanned by countless passing starcrafts
who apparently felt it was best if I remained untouched...

The Immensity
An entity so vast no mortal mind can comprehend it's boundaries
It was thought to survive the previous universe's death
and slid in during the Big Bang that gave substance to our's
It lives, if such a value is applicable to it, at the center of our universe
as all matter moves out away from the point of origin
it stays in that empty void, seeing everything in all directions
Everything that composes it's physical form is anti-matter
For it to travel anywhere from where it currently resides
would bring irreparable cataclysm as it's mass touches ours...

Praying for an Easy End
It need not be a thing to be feared
Death might persuade any number of elements
to grant us a peaceful transition
To merely lift weightlessly into the midnight sky
ever up and away
Sleeping into the upper atmosphere
until the air is too thin and you suffocate
Silently, never for a moment waking
you could drift out on the dark sea
letting the tides pull you further and further from shore
as you float, mostly submerged, soundlessly
peacefully until you slip beneath the surface
with only a few bubbles to mark your passing ...

The Tongue of Eternity
The universe, to me, is an immense pair of female pursed lips
With little effort it could whisper to us our true purpose
Reveal to us the myriad mysteries of our existence
But it never does
At best it smirks occasionally, teasing me, challenging me
With enough drugs I have hallucinated a half-hearted kiss
In my darkest hours those lips part and invite to devour my soul
And how tempting it is to ascend that extended tongue
to pass through those perfect pearl like teeth
Bathed in a gentle breath...

Alone with Room for Two
I lay awake through the night,
haunted by ghosts of lovers past.
My room is dark, cool and inviting.
Just not nearly inviting enough
to summon an overnight companion.
A woman to share the low light
and whisper secrets with between
the brushing of lips together.
To slowly explore already well known
contours and crevices with.
To hold with a hope of sleep and a
chance to synchronize our breathing.
To feel wonderful round breasts
against my side as I hold her.
Tits so perfect they are an anomaly,
simply refusing time and...
