POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I am extremely new to poetry and before I show my works to friends and family I would like to get better at it.
The beast
She wished desperately for morning as it might stop the movement
Yearned for her eyes to just close not caring if they ever opened again
Remembered a time when she wasn't scared of shadows
She used to be able to conjure sleep with ease
But for such a young woman her thoughts were heavy
For what might be the last time she laid and tried to listen to the ocean breeze
She can't watch every corner of her cage and that seals her fate
The beast wishes to go on his cruel date
He toys with her, brushing against her toes ...

Taste of War
Sirens wail their mournful tune
Families don't fail to take cover if there's room
His tail between his legs the man realises his mistake
Afterwards he is hidden in fear of what they might take
The mainland remains just out of reach
They cling to their "safety" as a child might a stuffed bear
The smell of sobriety fills the air
The people of the nation gather their fear and unguided hate
But still yield at the big debate
To flee to other countries, to stay and accept fate
If they couldn't decide they would break

Pride Turned Fear pt.2
Innocence filled eyes
But a soul with dark intent
The child hid it well

Having Been
Having been trampled and worn
The girl wondered why
Why she had made the decisions she had
Why her cards had been dealt the way they had
Why her life seemed to mean nothing the way it had
Having been trampled and worn the girl stood up
She would rectify, bluff, and smile her way to the end
Being newly repaired the girl decided to wonder what instead of why
What decisions would she make in the future
What cards might she be dealt
What her life might mean to someone else
The girl wondered why
Why she had made the decisions she had
Why her cards had been dealt the way they had
Why her life seemed to mean nothing the way it had
Having been trampled and worn the girl stood up
She would rectify, bluff, and smile her way to the end
Being newly repaired the girl decided to wonder what instead of why
What decisions would she make in the future
What cards might she be dealt
What her life might mean to someone else
