POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
DIM-WITTED ON VALENTINE'S DAY
Today is Friday the 13th
Tomorrow is February the 14th
It's a day 'lovers' celebrate
Make lovey-dovey faces
And buy each other trinkets in red
Your man comes home late
With a bunch of fake roses and trinkets
A sheepish smile
He goes on, ignores that throughout the year
Every other day, a pair of gloves
Oh flip!
How dense can I get?
Tomorrow is Valentine's Day!
I am feeling rather dim-witted
I can hear you sighing and shaking your head
Tomorrow is February the 14th

Make lovey-dovey faces
And buy each other trinkets in red
Your man comes home late
With a bunch of fake roses and trinkets

WHERE THE HARE HAS LAIN
What’s the good of women
For all they can say
Is “I love you”
Till time and times are done
But in vain
Once I had a dream
Two or three to charm
But it was in vain
Because the grass can’t keep the form
Where the hare has lain
For all they can say
Is “I love you”
Till time and times are done
But in vain
Once I had a dream
Two or three to charm
But it was in vain
Because the grass can’t keep the form
Where the hare has lain

THE LAST POST
As I lie here dying
Reality finally sets in
Soon, I shall depart from here
My soul will climb the hills
To the Great Beyond
When the Grim Reaper finally comes
He must not pride in himself
Mighty and dreadful as he may be
Death is but one short sleep
Then eternity in the Great Beyond
By then you shall be reading this poem
Walking away from this mortal
Reciting these verses from my memoirs
My flesh and bones in the custody of dust
In the Garden of Remembrance
In the privacy of your hearts
Are you so afraid
Lest...

WILL YOU REMEMBER MINE?
Gone are all the good times
When I held your hand to mine
Don't watch the burnt bridges
But when you hear songs of love
Will you remember mine?
I sold all my tomorrows
And bought a silly yesterday
It was all for the good times
But if you really had to go
Will you remember me?
The cheating heart has turned
Please don't look so sad
Be glad you had all the time
To pretend, cheat and lie
That never stood the test of time
This life will always keep on turning
When your beauty rises no more
When you shatter and...

IF EVER THERE WAS LOVE
All the tears that I shed
When we were through
I cried them only for me
And certainly not for you
Because if ever there was love
And if ever it was true love
I would have shed them
For both of us
When we were through
I cried them only for me
And certainly not for you
Because if ever there was love
And if ever it was true love
I would have shed them
For both of us

THE HAND WHICH MADE US
The sky up so high
Has spread the spangled banner
After the unwearied sun
The Creator's power display
Has published the firmament
Like work of art
As the evening shades triumph
The moon starts it tale
Telling the story of its birth
The night and earth listening
While the stars around her burn
The stars in solemn silence
No real voice nor sound
Amidst their radiant orbs
Utter forth a glorious voice
Forever singing as they shine
That hand which made us is divine
Has spread the spangled banner
After the unwearied sun
The Creator's power display
Has published the firmament
Like work of art
As the evening shades triumph
The moon starts it tale
Telling the story of its birth

WHEN THE CURTAIN FALLS
When the curtain falls
There's some corner of a field
That will forever conceal me
In the Garden of Remembrance
Watered by tears of those left behind
There shall be
In that heap of earth
A richer dust concealed
A dust which a mother bore in pain
Only to lose it to a more divine call
When the curtain falls
This shadowy beauty mine
When I get to sleep
In that deep heart of a dusty field
It shall be in a mansion so kept
The stone upon my trembling breast
With me deep in the grave
Shall share my reverie
For...

IN THE TRACKS OF MY TEARS
The day was still very young in me
Everything was still cherished and revered
Logic was all lost in the mist of love
She came into my yard
With a bunch of promises
And planted a rose in the garden of my heart
She smiled, turned and left
In the tracks of my tears
Ouch! I slipped, fell and broke my heart
Everything was still cherished and revered
Logic was all lost in the mist of love
She came into my yard
With a bunch of promises
And planted a rose in the garden of my heart
She smiled, turned and left
In the tracks of my tears

MANY MOONS AGO
I used to stroll down the street
One hand in my pocket
Keeping guard over dimes
And a stick of cigarette
In the other
That was so many moons ago
When I started out on this journey
Now I look at my brow
Focusing on the wrinkles
And the uninvited grey hair
How I wish I never had that pride
As I gaze far into the horizon
Framed by the grey smoke from the cigarette
Damn, this is where it all began
Many moons ago!
One hand in my pocket
Keeping guard over dimes
And a stick of cigarette
In the other
That was so many moons ago
When I started out on this journey
Now I look at my brow
Focusing on the wrinkles
And the uninvited grey hair
How I wish I never had that pride
As I gaze far into the horizon
Framed by the grey smoke from the cigarette
Damn, this is where it all began

ADAMANT EVE
Once in a short while
There comes a time
When the fantasies of a lover
Jump the queue of logic
To find a place right on top of the agenda
That is precisely what happened to me
When I met you
It was always bound to happen
To a stupid man like me
To buy love for thirty pieces of silver
When I met you
I got myself busy
Trying to replace your drab garb
With a proper dress
When I met you
I never traded these boots for proper shoes
Because you gave me no chance
You adamant Eve!

TO CAST THE FIRST STONE
From you I reaped stones of scorn
No one is perfect, least of all myself
Therefore, against others
Who am I to cast the first stone?
But it became easy for you
To float into the realm of verdicts
And gather stones of scorn
Trivia became true relevance
So much as sunset is to the blind
Your words flowed like cold water on my spine
Discharging gossip and torrents of supposition
Biased, critical, negative, condemning
You zoomed into my letterbox for more
Poised by the window of my world
I could not sentry out your...

MY FIRST LETTER
I was born of a woman
She screamed me into existence
Only by her strong will
Not by anybody's design
Do not reject nor accept me
It's no prerogative of yours
I desire to go about life's tasks
Not by anybody's craft
I have a right to exist
I treasure myself most highly
Give me a decent chance of success
And I won't let it pass
This is my first letter to you
I'm screaming myself into existence
Live and let me live
And accept that I exist
She screamed me into existence
Only by her strong will
Not by anybody's design
Do not reject nor accept me
It's no prerogative of yours
I desire to go about life's tasks
Not by anybody's craft
I have a right to exist

And I won't let it pass

Live and let me live
And accept that I exist
