POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Breakfast in August
Wrapped up in blankets against the cold morning air,
Curled up snugly in wicker seats
Frosty breaths of conversation,
Expelled a mist above our breakfast of waffles and hot cocoa
Our blushes were hidden behind pale white hands,
Whilst shy smiles wrote our story
We exhaled secrets into the day,
And inhaled nervous expectation
A foreign land awoke around us,
Whilst our voices spread wings to depart
It was that August morning amid the pastel sunrise,
That I fell in love with you...
Curled up snugly in wicker seats
Frosty breaths of conversation,
Expelled a mist above our breakfast of waffles and hot cocoa
Our blushes were hidden behind pale white hands,
Whilst shy smiles wrote our story
We exhaled secrets into the day,
And inhaled nervous expectation
A foreign land awoke around us,
Whilst our voices spread wings to depart
It was that August morning amid the pastel sunrise,

There is a suitcase in your hand,
And a film of tears blinding your
eyes,
The salt lingers on your lips, my lips
Like a final gift, a reminder of your

I savour the taste, and sink into the

Our fingertips linger on cheeks and
bare shoulders,
I'm weak and seasick, our hearts
reside in our stomachs,
Deep indigo marks in the crook of
your neck,
The sweet collarbone, your warm
scent
Skin slides past skin as we distance
ourselves,
A distance expanding with each
passing second,
We step back to...
And a film of tears blinding your
eyes,
The salt lingers on your lips, my lips
Like a final gift, a reminder of your
presence,
I savour the taste, and sink into the
heat
Our fingertips linger on cheeks and
bare shoulders,
I'm weak and seasick, our hearts

Deep indigo marks in the crook of

The sweet collarbone, your warm
