POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I love the use of words and do as I am able to celebrate them. If I can paint a literal picture or impart emotion, mission accomplished.
My Secret Place
There are times where I am despondent
Lost in the sea of anger and pain
Where the world is upon my shoulders
All I can hear is the downpour of rain
My only boon is a secret escape
That is reserved right just for me
I close my eyes and soon you are there
It is you that will set me free
At first I cannot see you
But I know you are close at hand
I feel your touch slide from left to right side
Accross my shoulders to say I'm your man
Your touch electrifies my senses
You’d think I've never felt you before
As you settle with me...
Lost in the sea of anger and pain
Where the world is upon my shoulders
All I can hear is the downpour of rain
My only boon is a secret escape
That is reserved right just for me
I close my eyes and soon you are there
It is you that will set me free
At first I cannot see you
But I know you are close at hand
I feel your touch slide from left to right side
Accross my shoulders to say I'm your man
Your touch electrifies my senses
You’d think I've never felt you before

My Greatest Achievement
Of all of my achievements, you are my greatest
Through time you will supersede them all
In moment to moment, from my first to the last
You alone will live up to the call
I’m not naive enough to know
There will be no sign of trouble
As the years pass and time goes on
Like us all you are sure to stumble
Through trial and error you will learn your way
Your insight will bring you far
Oh the greatness that is sure to follow you
Despite any earned pains and scars
As I moved through my years I stopped to consider
Just what my task in life may be...
Through time you will supersede them all
In moment to moment, from my first to the last
You alone will live up to the call
I’m not naive enough to know
There will be no sign of trouble

In the Moment
I saw you for only an instant
But an instant was all I would need
I know you inside and out
How you feel, how you sound, how you taste
The warmth of your touch gets under my skin
And any control in my thoughts is erased
I reach out for you and you find me
My senses are already on fire
The heat from your breath is upon my cheek
So I push forth and give in to desire
We exchange no words between us
But we know exactly what to say
My movements flow in tandem with yours
Neither one of us requesting parlay
I press in to you but you...

At the Cafe
It would almost be pretty except for the heat
At the end of the day
Usual seat in the cafe
I was simply unable to eat
It was my normal routine by now
Come in and order
Drink down way too much water
Try not to stare at you somehow
Before I saw you all I knew was the breeze
My life was my own
A man come full grown
But you infected me like a disease
At first I denied you were real
Your smile so bright
Hair falling just right
I could not escape your appeal
For weeks now I couldn't help it but watch
Your silk...

Unforgettable Goodbye
Things were over between us
You had made that perfectly clear
You had come by one last time to say your goodbye
But after four hours you were still here
We knew the break was for the best
Our time had run its course
But it was almost as if there was something unsaid
And to leave it would just be the worst
With all the pressure now off and no fear of commitment
I saw in your eyes one conclusion
That the something unsaid just had to come out
And only then would there be resolution
My anger at you came in full force
As I made...

Of the Fates that Await Me
Of the fates that await me
I can stomach all but one
To stare at a mirrored visage
And find that I recognize no one
That I am no longer myself
With no idea where I am
How did I come to be in this place?
And what’s worse, knowing all that, and simply not give a damn
To feel myself slipping away
One day here and then gone the next
To know I’m losing my faculties
And pray that no one suspects
For who am I if not myself?
My ideas, my thoughts, and my dreams
My body is still here but my mind is going
No aspect of life...
I can stomach all but one
To stare at a mirrored visage
And find that I recognize no one
That I am no longer myself
With no idea where I am
How did I come to be in this place?

I Imagine
I imagine you in a backless dress
That comes to just above your knee
Just why you wore it, no one else would swear it
You adorned it tonight just for me
I imagine you right behind me
So you could reach out and hold me close
Your hands on my chest, you draw in your breath
You desire for me no one else knows
I imagine I turn just enough
To be discrete at what I do next
My hand holds your face, my lips take their place
My tongue traces the contours of your neck
I imagine the table behind you
Will serve for the purpose I need...

Chains on My Wrists
I was there in a prison of my own making and wore heavy chains on my wrists
Around me were other prisoners in other cells with chains of their own
Some loved their chains and clung to them tightly
Some hated their chains and thrashed against them day and night
Some tried to convince me their chains were not actually there at all, but we all knew better
We were all in chains
One day as we sat in the prisons of our own making, waiting for our sentence to be carried out
The King, the general, the leader of our army came in...

Intimate Space
You wore my shirt to enchant me
Your figure below
The buttons just so
You knew I had no hope to resist
I moved to you and you met me
Your lips on my neck
My composure a wreck
My body was yours for the taking
My arms lifted you up off the ground
My patience was shot
Body heat so hot
Any procedure was not for discussion
Taking my lead your legs wrapped around
I moved in to your place
Your most intimate space
You held on as I moved...
Your figure below
The buttons just so
You knew I had no hope to resist
I moved to you and you met me
Your lips on my neck
My composure a wreck
My body was yours for the taking
My arms lifted you up off the ground
