POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I started out writing whatever emotions and thoughts were going on in my head, and while they were artfully done, they weren't very deep. Since then my writing has evolved to include story poems, poems about people and places, and abstract poetry.
The Duel
This is a Real-Time Poem. I wrote it as the events were happning, bit by bit.
6:45
All is quiet and calm
As I watch the sunrise
From my perch
6:50
At first its slow
Just a twinkle of light
But as dark clouds blow in
The sun fights back
6:55
It is an epic duel
Though slow
'Tis just as suspenseful
As any other
Winter birds stir
Knowing dawn will come
Whether bright of not
They do not know
The chill air
Waits and watches
It too awaits the verdict
7:05
The horizon brightens
While the battle...

Pebbles?
March 1st, 2010
A pebble sits
Upon the sand
Soaking up the sun
There's birds above
And crabs below
The waters roar
Up to the shore
As screaming children laugh
The adults
They scold
And pass out towels
The sun dips low
Kissing the horizon
A pebble sits
Upon the sand
Bathed in cool moonlight.
A pebble sits
Upon the sand
Soaking up the sun
There's birds above
And crabs below
The waters roar
Up to the shore
As screaming children laugh
The adults
They scold
And pass out towels

Kissing the horizon

The First Darkness
January 26th, 2010
A young bird flaps
It's bent and broken wing.
Looking to the bright blue sky
Yearning to soar and sing.
But it's on the ground
It can not flee
From dark hidden things
It can not see
So again
Once more it tries
To quick escape
The twisted lies
But knows it can't
For hope has gone
And so it ends,
The young birds song.
A young bird flaps
It's bent and broken wing.
Looking to the bright blue sky
Yearning to soar and sing.
But it's on the ground
It can not flee
From dark hidden things
It can not see
So again
Once more it tries
To quick escape
The twisted lies
But knows it can't
For hope has gone
And so it ends,
The young birds song.

The Void
((December11th, 2010))
The void opens
Black seeps out
Black seeps through
It fills me with pain
It fills me with fear
I try to close the void
To stem the pain
To stem the fear
Doesn't close
Doesn't wane
No matter how I try.
The black tries to over whelm
I keep it in
I close the doors
Hoping no one can see the pain
In my eyes
In my mind
And then it stops...
Like nothing happened
Like everything is normal
But I know it's a lie
And I wait and wait in fear
For the next time the Void opens...
The void opens
Black seeps out
Black seeps through
It fills me with pain
It fills me with fear
I try to close the void
To stem the pain
To stem the fear
Doesn't close
Doesn't wane
No matter how I try.

I keep it in
I close the doors
Hoping no one can see the pain
In my eyes
In my mind
And then it stops...

Like everything is normal
But I know it's a lie
And I wait and wait in fear
For the next time the Void opens...

A new enemy has risen
Taking the place of He who I havefled
Same anger and spite
But different expectations and thoughts
My growing desperation fills my mind
My body shakes
My hands quake
And tears fill my eyes.
And still she talks
Words of tyranny and pomp
As I huddle in a ball
Hoping she will stop and leave.
Click clack of shoes
Pierce my shattered mind
Come and go, back and forth
Still she goes on and on
Never caring
Not noticing
Ever ignorant of my pain and strife.
Finally departed

Remorse ((April 14th, 2010))
Ancient words
Scrawled upon
ancient cracking paper
Great men sign with
Ancient pens
Great ideas of
Ancient times
Fighting for
Ancient lives
Coming against
Ancient laws
And breaking
Ancient ties
Stopping rule by
Ancient powers
But its been wrecked with
New found lies.

Blind Side ((December 4th, 2010))
I hate how no matter how much I drink
My lips are still chapped
Still crack
Still bleed.
I hate how no matter how much I eat
My stomach still feels empty
Still growls
Still craves.
I hate how no matter how much I read
My mind still feels lost
Still searching
Still shouts.
I hate how no matter how much I speak
My words still seem pointless
Still jumbled
Still unheard.
I hate how no matter how much I cry
My heart still feels sadness
Still hurting
Still heavy.

People ask me
If I'm okay
No I'm not
But I smile and lie anyway.
Mom always says
That I should be positive
But how can I
If life is so negative.
I feel the tears
Well up inside
Wishing someone
Would bridge this divide.
I know one day
That I will overflow
And then finally
My true colours will show.
No one can see
My twisted tormented soul
I hear the bell
It's sepulchral toll.
I will myself
To keep trudging on
Even knowing
They'll all soon be gone.
All around me...
If I'm okay
No I'm not
But I smile and lie anyway.
Mom always says
That I should be positive
But how can I
If life is so negative.

A Colour by Any Other Name?
Blue tastes of happiness and sunshine
It tastes of solidness and enigmas
Riding on the ocean waves
Or does it taste of nothing?
Nothing to be won or lost
A lack of taste so absurd
As to verge upon insanity!
Hear the unheard cries of Blue
Hear the sorrowed tones
The waters are cold
The oceans are rough
Yet Blue remains in them
In all of us.
It tastes of solidness and enigmas
Riding on the ocean waves
Or does it taste of nothing?
Nothing to be won or lost
A lack of taste so absurd
As to verge upon insanity!
Hear the unheard cries of Blue
Hear the sorrowed tones
The waters are cold
The oceans are rough
Yet Blue remains in them

Courtship of the Sea ((January 25th, 2011))
Will the captain go down with his ship?
Will he fell the grip of the Ocean?
Her soft chilled hands upon his skin?
Enticing him to her passionate embrace
Her longing for his Human warmth
Mourning after his Warmth has gone.
There is no fun in a cold companion.
She licks at his feet
Cherishing the rapid beat just under his Skin.
This foreign Beat
It sparks a mem'ry of long ago
Many many years have passed
Since that Beat was hers.
He is closer to giving in
She can sense it in his mind
As he falls to his knees in Surrender...
Will he fell the grip of the Ocean?

Bits, Bites, Bots
((Just little snippets of poems that either weren't finished, or are just very short))
Many minds warped with pain
Depression is man's greatest bane
Torment shoots through the mind
Ties in the soul that bind.
~~~~~
It's quite spectacular to notice how the world turns
How people change
How worlds collide
The intricate workings of the human mind
Trapped in a fragile shell
So easy to break
So easy to wreck.
~~~~~
The river flows
It comes and goes
Beneath the shade of trees
Branches swaying in the breeze...
Many minds warped with pain
Depression is man's greatest bane
Torment shoots through the mind
Ties in the soul that bind.

In Between the Lines ((January 12th, 2011))
The empty lines
The empty spaces
Between your words
Between your writing
In between the lines
Everyone finds different words
How do you know which is witch?
The lines are blurred
Not white
Nor black
But grey
A creature creeps between these lines
Stalking none
Stalking all
Is it a warning of the fall?
There is a twisting
A wriggling worm
Deep inside your brain
Can't you feel it?
Maybe it's an idea
Maybe it's a dream
Or maybe it's a slimy thing.
The salt and pepper say hello
They turn and...
