My name is joseph I discovered I was a poet in 09 and ive been writing ever since. I plan to get my poems published once I feel ive writen enough. I welcome comments and constructive criticism. Hope you enjoy!
DARK POEM

Raven of Sorrow
Tie-dye sunsets turning doleful shades
I, through these silken curtains gazed
At the dreary forms displayed
As shadows in a purple haze
The lucid sky grows ever dimmer
The Sun a weak and dying ember
Cold winds set the trees ashiver
In the twilight of December
I sat and scowled in reverie
Brooding on things that now shall never be
It seems the fates, at last, have severed me
From all my hopes and pleasant dreams...

Lover's Deja vu
I know my love is somewhere out there waiting
I know our story's written in the stars
Although we've never met
Well at least not yet
I'm certain that she can't be very far
Somewhere she is gazing through her window
Somewhere she is staring at the moon
Somehow she just knows
That she is not alone
Because someone else is looking at it too
Maybe I'll meet her in the market
Maybe she's just around the bend
When this bridge of time and space brings us together
It will be like...
I know our story's written in the stars
Although we've never met
Well at least not yet

Invocation of the Muse
Sweet muse tarry not too long away from me.
Bring your flowers of unfolding thought.
Cause the flood within to spring
And these mental bars to rot
So that i may now break free
And open wide the gates of truth
Lead me to the evergreen
And fountains of eternal youth
Oh muse! Oh muse!
Do not refuse
To grant the vision that i seek
Annoint my mind
With words
With rhymes
For i am lowly
I am weak

Halfway to Heaven
When i looked upon your angel face
My heart grew wings and soared
Petrified by your radiance
I grew stiff as a board
You were a vision of perfection
In all your pristine glory
but it was what you did to me
That tells a different story
You held the power to transport me
To worlds of bliss or woe
I made a pact to hold you
And never to let go
You flew me past the highest peaks
My breath was gone
I couldnt speak
We were halfway to the pearly gates
Then suddenly a twist of fate
With my head in...

For Next Fall
She taught me a lesson
I was reluctant to learn
She taught it well without flaw
And though she knew not that she taught me at all
She got me prepared for the fall
And the winter that follows will not chill my bones
If I take from the fire she started
And the fire that burns
Is a lesson well learned
For the next time I am broken hearted

The Path
Time is a terrible thing to waste
But the mind is even greater still
Hours flee away in haste
While sad thoughts slowly make us ill
The footprints in the sands of time
Are never fully washed away
Walking alongside the tide
Were making new prints every day
We only have a little time
To utilize whats in our minds
Its with our words that we decide
What legacy we leave behind
We are the builders of tomorrow
Leaving our footprints to follow
So use what little time we have
To guide our footsteps to the path
But the mind is even greater still

The Cost
I can't blame you
And I must say that im ashamed
That I thought I could tame you
You plucked the feathers from the bird
You made him look like a turd
And then you laughed "haha"
The nerve!
You thought it was all fun and games
To laugh at someone elses pain
Youl get what you deserve!
In the end my dear
when the murky glass of time turns crystal clear
Youl realize what you could have had and what you've lost
Never fully weighing out the cost
And I must say that im ashamed
That I thought I could tame you

A Haunting
How long shall I mourn thee? Thou who art dead to me
yet still may I chance upon your spectre in mostly every corridor of my mind.
Around whos corners you reach out and grab me.
Dragging me to the deepest recesses of such bitter woe and sad self pity.
And when I am granted some respite from the drudgery of my waking hours, in resting, rest I not.
For haunted I am, by ghosts of you , even into my wildest dreams, to torture me there.
Is there no escaping you?
You who are the express image some foul beast wearing the skin of some wonderous...

Cryin Shame
Its a shame how much I love you
Quite pitiful indeed
I pulled my heart out for you
All you did was watch it bleed
Its a shame how much I need you
A shame that you dont care
Ive done nothimg to deserve this
I guess life realy isnt fair
Its a shame you stay stuck in my head
A shame that you chose him instead
A shame I cant get out of bed
A shame I wish that I were dead
Yes its a cryin dyin shame
That im the only one to blame

The Music of the Spheres
The eternal silence of these infinite spaces fills my mind with dread.
We've filled the heavens, the Earth,and the fullness thereof
With emptiness instead.
Where did the cosmic fullness go?
And what has it emptied out into?
Made void by the minds that think they know
But hardly ever had a clue.
If were fortunate enough to glimpse the truth through the smog of our pollution
Then we will find embedded there the source of our solution.
I we could amplify the sound of light and love
then we'd feel the ghost of truth descending like a dove. ...

Stopping Time With You
If I had the power to freeze time
Id go back to the moment your lips first touched mine
Id keep you there stiff as a statue
In that happy moment when I thought I had you
And as eons pass without passing
Your lip gloss wont rub off
Ill stay where time cant find me
Ill be forever lost
Ill stop the world from spinning
Stop the sunbeams in their tracks
Time can just go on without me
I'll give all my hours back
And just stay with you in that moment
Thats all I wanna do
Whats the point in having a future
If I cannot have...

Another Moonlit Journey
The unknown swallows us whole
Dark is the face of the deep
The moonlight lays the weary soul
To slumber and to sleep
And in that sleep awake
To a kalidescope of dreams
Thoughts ripple upon a lake
Of quivering moon beams
Another moonlit journey
Across the universe
The infant planets forming
All ready for rebirth
We cross the bridge of stars
And look down at the earth
We cease from wandering who we are
Or caring what its worth
The things we leave behind
Dont matter anymore
We slip away into our minds
To find out whats...
