POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Depraved, Imperfect, Moody Those are my good traits
I Just let it Be
Strumming my 6 string
Hoping for a miracle
If that don't come
Hoping for hope
Hoping for a miracle
If that don't come
Hoping for hope

Blue Skies and Broken Hearts
Truth is all that blue sky and sunshine are bad for you
Give me a perfectly gray day
Or grey if you're going UK
Everyone wants a water view
Give me the alley
Stray cats and beggars
Broken glass
Twilight is paradise
Dusk and my broken heart
Give me a perfectly gray day
Or grey if you're going UK
Everyone wants a water view
Give me the alley
Stray cats and beggars
Broken glass
Twilight is paradise
Dusk and my broken heart

Ice Packs, Aging, Modern Marriage
We might look good
Tho being a boomer comes with a price
Years of hard work and hard play
Body parts aching, pass me the Ben Gay
We like ice around here
She has it on her back
Me on my shoulder
A couple vodka chasers work wonders too
Getting old ain't for sissies
Taking it in stride with pride
There's no remorse for the course
Honey, have you seen the Aleve ?

We Lie in Bed
Early morning
Before the dawn
Neither of us a good sleeper
Dog prowling around
Giving pause to touch
Nothing frantic
Just a caress or two
Maybe go butt to butt
She's small
I'm tall
Erotic on the perimeter of marriage
Rising, time to walk the dog
Before the dawn
Neither of us a good sleeper
Dog prowling around
Giving pause to touch
Nothing frantic
Just a caress or two
Maybe go butt to butt
She's small
I'm tall
Erotic on the perimeter of marriage
Rising, time to walk the dog

Fruit Men
They have a stand at the corner of my block
Fruits and vegetables only
24/7
Rain or shine
I call them Fruit Men
There's two of them working 12 hour gigs
Like a nurse's shift in a hospital
But they're not, they are the fruit guys
In their country they could have been doctors
Accountants or lawyers too
At the very least cable TV installers
Here they sell fruit
No complaints from these guys
A milk crate to sit on
Stoic and friendly enough
One box of strawberries or two ?
Note: originally a...

EC is God
You probably don't remember
Before your time
Not before mine though
Burned into my 1960s consciousness
Written on the walls at the railroad station
EC is God
Do you know who EC is
Or do I have to tell the story ?

The Spectacular Nature of Modern vs. Vintage
Staring at my vintage watch circa 1965
Stainless Steel was real back then
Not like the plated shiny shit
they use today
Our modern world
is an imitation of its once great self
Insist on quality
You'll never go wrong there
I'm an older bloke
I see reality for what is
Not so much sentimental
Just pragmatic as the day is long

Conceptual
I do things
Not because they make sense
But because there's irony in doing them
Often at my own sacrifice
Yet it makes me happy
The contrarian in me
Refusal to go along with a program
That others have created
It becomes conceptual at a certain point
I'm good with that
A pledge to myself
My calling ...

Emotion and Tribute
I don't sleep well anymore
It started around this time last year
Right around the time my Mother was declining
Monthly trips to Florida
Watching her in her 9th life spiral down
I accept her death as the natural process of life
She got 90 years out of her parade
Many of those years with pretty good health
A blessing unto itself
Though she was a worrier, that lays claim to your happiness
I miss her
I miss the vestiges of her elder glue
Keeping us in line
Despite her years she was still calling the shots
We as people...

Fear of Success
I do failure really well
Even though most think I'm a success
I fear winning
The pressure of keeping it going
Almost to much to bear
Failure gives me something to work on
Angst is my wet dream
Money a secondary pleasure
New and shiny is temporary
My heart is vintage
My watch a wind-up
Loving my cloudy day
Even though most think I'm a success
I fear winning
The pressure of keeping it going
Almost to much to bear
Failure gives me something to work on
Angst is my wet dream
