POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Too Far Gone...
A perfect crime,
a perfect defense,
an arbitrary time burning perfect evidence.
Listen for the voice.
It grows softer, still.
Witness the choice I make, when action is not reconciled with will.
Knowing the distance is knowing the velocity of the times.
Going the distance with growing ferocity inside.
And I found the stars, when I couldn't find the dawn.
And I've gone too far, am I too far gone?
Gone.
A folded map,
covered in dust,
will lead to traps for those who deny it their trust.
See how it sits?
It waits for...

Broken Fingers
Stoned again,
more than I'd like to admit.
Alone again.
You kind of get used to it.
I lost my way
though the path was clearly lit for me to see.
I fell away
for reasons all too clear to me.
Chorus:
In a life that I choose for myself,
by dancing too close to the edge...
They say I'll find a way when I'm losing myself...
Broken fingers slip from the ledge...
Bored again.
Complacency trips me again.
Ignored again,
and now I'm too broken to bend.
So listen loud,
and learn to spurn the monster within....
more than I'd like to admit.
Alone again.
You kind of get used to it.
I lost my way
though the path was clearly lit for me to see.
I fell away
for reasons all too clear to me.
Chorus:

The Ties that Blind
Can I tell you how I fell from glory
trying to free my mind?
My reasons are another story,
closely intertwined.
When I lost my self among the ruin
in a city draped in rust.
When I found myself so out of tune,
I knelt in ash and dust.
It rained on my face.
It soaked through my skin.
I'm ashamed and disgraced.
Death upon me, but life within.
Enslaved, I found myself a subject
of a will that was my own.
I bound myself, an object
cast before an empty throne.
And I tore myself an open mind,
restrained by jagged...

Freedom
My enemies have poisoned my friends
with hopes that they will share.
Consuming by fire and human desire
the last of human care.
My loved ones have eaten. They've eaten their fill.
In search of something more.
Their minds overheatin'; a chemical spill.
A chemically induced war...
I insist you resist!
You're something else.
My weaknesses, they multiply.
My strength, it dwindles to nil.
I stood in my dreams to prophecy, but
All I could say was, "Kill, kill kill!"
My brothers and sisters are falling apart,...
with hopes that they will share.
Consuming by fire and human desire
the last of human care.
My loved ones have eaten. They've eaten their fill.

The Turn
The lights, closer still,
seize me once more.
Caution bleeds into the night
from blinking amber eyes and,
it occurs to me
that there is reason in their silent vigilance,
and it has eluded me.
Reaction is of no avail.
I rip through guardrail like paper.
Indignant, the eyes merely look away.
But I know they are behind me now,
and I likely will never suffer their gaze again.
For now, I am petrol, floating on water.
I am bloodstained rock, wreckage and twisted metal.
A kinetic symphony makes more of my potential
than I...
