This is a tribute to Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, who passed away 18 years ago. RIP, amigo.
A death rattle heard round the world
All in all, you were your own
Malnourished Pisces, griping about life
Your apologies were never accepted
Locked in a heart-shaped box for weeks
But you’d say nevermind, no new complaints
You were right, not the only one
Far from it, in fact
Your best was your worst
But that made you so warm and calm inside
No longer needing to hide in the darkness

Mary, Mary
Quite contrary
The world outside
Is so big and scary
But don’t hide forever
Don’t remain wary
Come down from you eyrie
You little canary
Walk with me
On the prairie
Don’t waste anymore time
Don’t you tarry
Our past mistakes
You must bury
This burden you bear
I’ll help you carry

And never to vary
I love you so dearly

Sleeping Beauty
Black day dawning
I’m yearning, longing
To count the sheep
And get some sleep
But merely too awake to go
Into a dreamland, so
I can realize my fate
I just can’t wait
Self-absorbed insomniac
Once you’re one, you can’t go back
It breaks your will in two
And drains you through and through
My bloodshot eyes won’t help my case
Dreams are gone without a trace
Simply just skin and bones
And my complexion, a ghostly white tone
They call me a hollow husk, and Mr. Zombie Man
Their pathetic humor I just don’t...

Apocalyptic Mural
Swallowed the cursed skeleton key
To the gates of eternity
I was weak, now I’m strong
But it’s all too much, I can’t go on
Who’s got the skill to pass the test?
Not you, only the best of the best
You’ll never know what I knew
I kept it inside, until the last breath I drew
Killed the feeling with another
How could I ever be a father?
I’ll teach the youths that the world’s on fire

City of Lost Souls
Here we are, cold as can be
Cold hearts, but so warm
Warming up the hallow faces all around
Around this hallow city
We beg for the winter
Winter brings a way to hide
Hide the mistakes we’ve made
Made to last forever
Frozen to the ground
Ground covered with garbage
Garbage fills the nooks of this city
City of lost souls
Grown so cold, retreat to the house
House of pain, or the rising sun
Sun goes down, but safe inside
Inside of me, inside of you
Fight for the last scraps
Scraps of my dying dignity...

Color Disappears
I’ve grown tired, I’ve gone blind
Lost the feeling, lost my mind
Age has got me in a stranglehold
Senseless rantings of a man too old
Life flashing before my eyes
Love, loss, regrets, and lies
Body too frail, can hardly move
But my restless soul I’ll never soothe
Wrinkled skin, arthritis
In my younger days, I could have fought this
It creeps up on you, you never see it coming
But doesn’t it make me look so wise and becoming?
Way too far over the lonely hill
Everyone’s gone, but I’m here still
Some call them the golden...

Center of the Sun
We were born to crawl
On our knees and hands
And we’ll die on them
Fulfilling their demands
We breathe in the air
But the air is poison
Yet we inhale so deeply
For no apparent reason
We taste the blood
And hear the screams
We pinch each other’s arm
To try to wake from the dream
We shout at the sky
To get His attention
Cause the meaning of life
He forgot to mention
We try and try so hard
To make it through the day
Then we lie to each other
And say that we’re okay
We travel to the end of...
