POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Evolution, not perfection.
I'm beginning to notice
That people have either forgotten
Or chosen to ignore
That humans are animals
By all technicalities
And while we are civilised
We are no different
Than your dog
Who pissed on your carpet
When he was scared
Even though
You had him toilet trained
That people have either forgotten
Or chosen to ignore
That humans are animals
By all technicalities
And while we are civilised
We are no different
Than your dog
Who pissed on your carpet
When he was scared
Even though
You had him toilet trained

I see your smile,
Your lips
Hugging your teeth
In an embrace
Much like ours
In the early mornings of October
Your lips
Hugging your teeth
In an embrace
Much like ours
In the early mornings of October

Butterflie tattoos scream daddy issues.
Skin the colour of marble
The same texture, too
Bone stretching skin,
Small tears at the peak
And fingers
Perfect for playing the piano
Though too brittle now
Bruises line his inner arm
Mauve, charcoal, jaundiced smudges
Blurring the name of his daughter
Tattooed along the ulna
Her stuffed toys are his company tonight
Her room otherwise untouched
In the past 6 months
And he doesn't need
To wonder why
The same texture, too
Bone stretching skin,
Small tears at the peak
And fingers
Perfect for playing the piano
Though too brittle now
Bruises line his inner arm
Mauve, charcoal, jaundiced smudges
Blurring the name of his daughter
Tattooed along the ulna
Her stuffed toys are his company tonight
Her room otherwise untouched
In the past 6 months
And he doesn't need

SPF 50+ isn't strong enough.
His lips caressed my wrist
Whispering love notes into my pores
Where they were absorbed
Like UV rays into my skin
And burned me
Twice as badly
But maybe it was just the wind
And maybe I was too drunk
To know the difference
But either way
You're fucking cancerous
Whispering love notes into my pores
Where they were absorbed
Like UV rays into my skin
And burned me
Twice as badly
But maybe it was just the wind
And maybe I was too drunk
To know the difference
But either way
You're fucking cancerous

Down in front
I cant hear
The cars
That drive past my house
At 2:30 in the morning
Over the sound
Of plastic keys and prose
That surges through my veins
And out from under my nails
Urging my fingers forward
To move faster to
Keep up with my thoughts
And the tap of the keys
With emphasis on the letters
That spell your name
Creating a melody of heartbreak
Or anger or lust
That silences the
Surrounding world
Assisting ignorance
Of a misplaced lover
In the wrong city
With the wrong woman
Under the wrong sheets
Until I...

The Scenic Route
Abundant wildlife amongst
Rolling hills and
Undisturbed flora
Or rather
Independent curls
Bouncing past your eye line
Beckoning my fingertips
To caress and intertwine
I would much rather
A night of studying
Every kink and curl
Than a lifetime
Spent in
The Garden of Eve
Rolling hills and
Undisturbed flora
Or rather
Independent curls
Bouncing past your eye line
Beckoning my fingertips
To caress and intertwine
I would much rather
A night of studying
Every kink and curl
Than a lifetime
Spent in
The Garden of Eve

My ribcage is no longer
A protector of precious cargo
Every since
You reached right through it
And carved your name
Along the walls of my heart
And the inside of my chest
So my body would not forget who owned it
A protector of precious cargo
Every since
You reached right through it
And carved your name
Along the walls of my heart
And the inside of my chest
So my body would not forget who owned it
