What was fire is now Ice cold
Have to sift through dirt to find the gold

My heart on a plate, my heart on a platter
Cuisine for a queen but you couldn’t look sadder

Now we only come together to play family feud

Look at Love
Look at love
You found everything you wanted and everything I’m not
Everything that was empty love occupies the spots
Lock eyes, laugh and smile
Everything that had been missing for awhile
But every now and then you look
And though your reading the pages, you don’t know the book
Love looking back at you reciprocated
Belief in forever rejuvenated
And as you look at love with its new face
Enjoying the peace yet it feels outta place
You’ve looked for love and love you found
Listen to the melody and memorized the sound ...

The Ugly Beauty that Once Was
Long live the life
Long and sharp is the knife
Lies always cut deep
But the truth usually cuts deeper
The choice to leave her or keep her
In the end I got neither
Honest to me
The best I ever had honestly
But also the worst disrespectfully
constant combat in close quarters
Now standing in rooms with disloyal supporters
No need for the Oscar’s; just give us the awards
Sacrificed the joy for the peace rewards
Winning in losing
The outcome of choosing
Still holding on with invisible thread
Memories forever...

Mal’s Will
Mal won’t let me build
Mal won’t let me break
Haunting me with her presence
How long this gonna take
Lost in deep sleep and sweet dreams
Then instantly I’m before the alter of the demon queen
In the dreamworld displaying two braids and new J’s
That look in her eyes was all she had to say
Magneto bending steel
Tryin to run from cerebro…and Mal’s Will
Laid in, days in
Exhausted from pain bathed in
Still has my mind In check on the board of chess
Bleed out every beat from that thing in my chest ...

Soft Handed Man
Firm handed greeting met with distain
I’ve shook hands with the elders, but they couldn’t feel pain
When touching my hands they felt no skill or experience
No struggle, no plan only soft inexperience
This had me shook and conflicted
That their perception was so restricted
Had me questioning…
Can you be a man’s man even with soft hands?
My labor is different if you don’t understand
Those before me who worked the plants and mills
That attained trade skills to pay their bills
Blood and sweat from their hands moisturized the earth ...
