Expressing myself was never my strong point until I was exposed to poetry at the age of 14. I still have trouble "voicing" my feelings but give me paper & pen or an electronic device to type there's no stopping me!

Thinking Things Through
How can a few little words change my life?
How can those words change the way I feel?
I thought I had it all figured out
I thought I was ready to move on
Those few little words mean a lot to me
Those tears you shed mean even more
But how can I forgive what you did to me?
How can I forget all the pain you caused?
So many questions I wish I knew the answer to
So much pain that I still feel today
I need to figure out what to do next
I need to figure out what is best for me
I know I will always love you

Missing Him
For years my life has felt empty
For years I cried out in pain
The pain of losing you
Was more than I could stand.
My best friend was gone
Never to be seen or heard again
Just a memory in my heart and mind
A memory I never want to forget.
Praying that will never happen
Because I had over 30 years with you
I know that's more than some others get
But it wasn't enough for me.
I never wanted to live life without you daddy
But here I am today...
Left loving and missing you
On this cold and miserable day. ...
For years I cried out in pain

Loving You Missing You
Wiping the tears from my eyes
Watching them roll down my hand
Feeling numbness deep inside
Just wanting to disappear
To be with you again
But I'm here and you're there
My heart is missing you deeply
But nothing I can do
I wish I could just change the past
And have you here with me once again
To see your smiling face
To feel your loving touch
The tears continue to fall
There's no stopping them now
I will just cry myself to sleep

Something To Believe In
I finally have something to believe in
Something that makes me smile inside
I have no idea what will happen yet
But I had to promise to still live my life.
I know how I want things work out
But I know things never go as I plan
So as they say...Hope for the best
But plan for the worse.
The best will be having my dreams come true
The worse being that my future with you isn't bright.
One day at a time is all we have for now
But that's more than I had before.
The more I learn the more I will wait
Just knowing that your smile lifts...
Something that makes me smile inside

Chemistry
No one but us can understand our unspoken language
No one but us knows what it is that we feel.
To describe into words how I feel
Is probably close to impossible.
Do I believe in love at first sight?
No but I do believe in chemistry.
The chemistry we share is like no other
When you're around nothing else matters.

Evaluating My Heart
I thought I was in love before
But now that I think back on it
I was in love with being with someone
Because I was afraid of being alone.
My eyes were just opened
To a love that's honest and true
I don't need to tell him
What makes me happy...
He does it all on his own.

Don't Ask For Much
I don't ask for much
Just the need to feel loved
The need to feel wanted
The same way I show it to you.
A kiss or message each morning
Asking me how my day was
Wanting to spend time together
Another kiss or message before bed.
Time and Time again

So do I give up or lower my expectations?
