POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Substantial
If only depression was actually a cloud.
Then it wouldn't have substance.
It wouldn't have the power to chain me to the bed,
Until I feel that my bones have started creaking.
I feel so angry.
I could be so much farther,
I could have done things...
My fingers barely have the energy to look for my glasses.
My other hand gently pulls the covers off of my body.
It's a step.
I lay with my glasses on,
Looking up at the dark ceiling,
Breathing.
The air around me is colder than I thought.
I forgot to turn on the heater. ...

Bright Singularities
We met on street corner,
Snowflakes kissing our virgin cheeks,
Our eyes met, a bright singularity.
We were strangers,
I don’t think that you remember me,
The man you saw on that cold night.
But I remember the tears on you cheeks,
Something that can only be covered by inattentiveness.
You allowed me in for that one moment,
You let me see past the façade,
Showed me the fractures in a crystalline structure.
It took me so long to find that same trust in you.
How is it that you trusted me more when I was that man passing you by in streets, ...

Hearts
Are hard.
Like diamonds.
Yet shatter.
Like glass.
I look.
Down.
And my heart.
Is.
Shattered.
Millions.
Of.
Pieces.
I can't breathe..
Cold.
Hands that once held me heart.
Dropped.
Trust.
Trusted.
I pick up a piece of my shattered heart.
Hard.
Like a diamond.
Glistens red.
Tears.
Salt on my lips.
Shaking.
Inaudible noises.
Frantic grabbing.
There is no way.
I can ever.
Be.
Whole.
Again
So small are the shards
That I can only see half...
Like diamonds.
Yet shatter.

Wave upon Gentle Wave
The blue monster does not dare shift.
He waits quietly, gentle fingers covering everything.
The blue monster cannot help himself.
The hunger gnaws at his head, threatening to make him nothing.
The blue monster sighs eternally.
He wants what he cannot have, he wants the embrace of his lover.
The blue monster rages.
She has turned away from him, her green back taunting him.
The blue monster is possessive.
"You cannot hide from me. I will always have you."
The blue monster reaches for her.
His fingers and lips rain kisses and...

Masquerade
Hello.
Hello.
I'm shy.
A girl stepping into an unknown world to become something more.
What's your name?
She blushes, and hesitates.
Life is a masquerade, and she does not yet know the rules.
Are you having fun?
Alcohol sips a drink in a corner, so handsome he's intoxicating.
The girl walks past the questioning dancer, eyes on the drinker.
He pulls her into his embrace, showering her with kisses and dark promises.
You can trust me.
The girl stays with him for a while.
The dancers are dancing too fast.
Alcohol's embrace is...

Once you...
Once you strip me of the hate and ignorance, you will find the love I intend to share.
Once you stop whipping me with whispers of blasphemy, you will hear my true words.
Once you stop sending me gales of misinformation, you will the curious mind that I am.
Take off those dirty glasses,
for they make you blind.

Take off those dirty glasses,

Perfection is a Dead End
I am a perfectionist.
In an imperfect world.
I search for perfection,
like one does for god.
Except,
If everything was perfect.
I would be the only imperfect one.
Because I would still be searching for perfection.
In an imperfect world.
I search for perfection,
like one does for god.
Except,
If everything was perfect.
I would be the only imperfect one.
Because I would still be searching for perfection.

Them Girls
Them girls, they dotted their i's with hearts,
and ice cream with cherries.
They sang in high soprano voices,
making everyone forget the emotion they carried.
Them girls, their thin bodies glinting in the sunlight,
their collarbones showing like medals.
They skipped and danced.
selling their souls straight to the devil.
and ice cream with cherries.
They sang in high soprano voices,
making everyone forget the emotion they carried.
Them girls, their thin bodies glinting in the sunlight,

They skipped and danced.

Exhalation
She left,
like the exhalation of a breath.
Her hands,
waved goodbye to death.
Shaking off,
the years of grief, of pain.
Fingers playing,
gently touching a golden chain.
Goosebumps dancing,
a fierce cha-cha, on skin ever so pale
Oh, dear lover,
Do not go behind this veil,
I beg,
Do not even dare, or think,
These actions,
I will not bear, I will only shrink...
She left,
like the exhalation of a breath.
My lungs could not
