POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Holes
Deep, dark,
Seemingly empty
No one will know the secrets you hold
I tripped and then stumbled
And fell deep inside you
I bathed in your warmth
Yet shivered with cold
My heart filled with fear
And my body went numb
My mind was consumed by doubt
But despite any chance
I was given to stop
I was never compelled to get out
Now, far too late
For any regrets
My body and mind submit
I’ll close my eyes
And let myself go
And hope you’re a bottomless pit...
Seemingly empty
No one will know the secrets you hold
I tripped and then stumbled
And fell deep inside you
I bathed in your warmth
Yet shivered with cold
My heart filled with fear
And my body went numb
My mind was consumed by doubt
But despite any chance
I was given to stop
I was never compelled to get out
Now, far too late
For any regrets
My body and mind submit
I’ll close my eyes
And let myself go
And hope you’re a bottomless pit...

My life, the dream
I've always lulled myself to sleep
knowing I will dream
A planned escape to sanctuary
til sunlight can be seen
but now I lie here frightened
as the sun sets on the trees
for dreams are unpredictable
and show you what they please
I fear that I might close my eyes
and the hours that proceed
might take away the only thing
I've ever come to need
'cause now that you are in my life
you've really made it seem
that my days have become
the equivalent of a dream
knowing I will dream
A planned escape to sanctuary
til sunlight can be seen
but now I lie here frightened
as the sun sets on the trees
for dreams are unpredictable
and show you what they please
I fear that I might close my eyes
and the hours that proceed
might take away the only thing
I've ever come to need
'cause now that you are in my life
you've really made it seem
that my days have become
the equivalent of a dream

All is fair in love and war
We signed our lives away. Using the same pen, we put our names forward and we signed our lives away. We were unarmed and unprepared; young and foolish. Curious children who believed they had nothing to lose.
Together, side by side we stepped onto the battle grounds. Promises were spoken of how we would be; together ‘til the end, we would jump each hurdle as it came. We would have each other’s backs and we both sincerely believed each one. We had been given our equipment; our guns, armour and training. We had no idea of how insignificant these things really were. We had no idea that...

Today I ran away
Today I ran away. I drove for miles, 'til the sun set upon the horizon and the dawn of night set upon my troubled heart. As I came to unfamiliar roads, my car came to a complete, unexpected stop. I did not panic, as I had no destination and here, as my car sat on loose gravel, between the highest of trees at the foot of a deep forest, was as good a destination as any.
I reclined my seat and lay staring at the roof as I breathed deeply and calmly, welcoming the overwhelming indolent sensation which held me in its grasp. I closed my eyes for just a second only to snap them open...

I am deceit
When you meet me you will be welcomed with gentle eyes and open arms. I will show you a little of my hurt and you will be drawn into the honesty of it all. My words will be soft spoken and tell you of the pain. The hurt in my voice will bring a tear to your eye and you will hold me close all night. I will turn to you and tell of how my heart longs for you, my bones ache for you. I will show you heaven on earth and you will be overwhelmed.
Then comes the stage where you have all you could need, and being human, you will believe you need more. You will begin to push me away and I will...

Last night I dreamt in slow motion
Last night I dreamt in slow motion. Each second felt like an hour. Each moment; an eternity. Every sensation was exaggerated to the point where I could smell the burning flesh peeling off my face as the metal penetrated my skin.
It started with the thunderous beating of my heart followed by the ear-shattering sound of it splitting in two. Divided perfectly, it fell into two halves and as it did so, everything it withheld from the world came spilling out. What a mess.
I stood a long while to make sense of it all and the longer I thought about it, the more obscure it all...
