Songs We Sing
I wish you were here
So we could talk
Touch
The sound of laughter
When songs are feelings
That we sing
And our mysteries fall away
In meanings
I wish you'd stay awhile
Forever
Even if just tonight
Everything seems so fluid
I'm torn
I'm not like this
But when you're here
I'm healed
Adrift in far, fair fields
Within your presence
I'd like to see a washed out sunrise
Fog shrouded on the shore
Chase the fading night
The halo'd moon
Waves echoing your...
So we could talk

The Wishing Stars
Come lay with me beneath the stars
Making up verse
And quiet idles
Of this or that
Between wine and kisses
Or just your closeness
With night
Like feelings
Deepening
The sensation of the hammocks sway
Neath trees' deep shadowed greens
Bathed in moonlight's silver
Quiet all around
Save the crackle of fire
Just you
And
Me
Step into my world
Making up verse

The looked for words
Not found, escaped
Flown somehow
Perhaps like you
Strangers when we meet
Who know each other intimately
Each dreaming lover's dreams
Perhaps like me
On guard, shields up
Who no longer knows you n me
That unraveled spool of things
We once kept tight
Words don't know how to write
Constellationless night
Lost silhouettes dancing in the dark
Seems touch is the missing part
There's no grit, no growl
No spark to flame when...

Today
Oh what drab, colorless roils drape the sky
As the sky, ashen, grey faced the sun
Clouds billowing
Spread out as tho' to compass all
The sun, the moon, and stars do hide
Those lamps of heavens reaffirming light
Tho' not darkest all -
Not as dark as familiar men's souls
Now conspiracy and conceit do creep
As knavery, treachery, like the worm doth crawl
Burrowing archly in soft rot
Not as men who on stout legs stand
Thin voices hiss the birthing of death
So discourse this discordant band
Full of hubris and cold...

Without the violence of words
The birthing of lies
First sweetly heard

Those silent sigils laid on the page
Barren, white, the starkest of places
Emblems of meaning the whole not conveying
I linger, hesitant, grief at the thought of touch
The thought of you, a rending, jagged torn
What is the word for a feeling as this
There are no feelings, no words, no more
Solitude...the wilderness howls, 'alone'
