What Songbird Sings The Night To Wake
Its late now
I drowse between imaginings
and dreams
You sleep or I'd call
...(I wonder if you're asleep [or thinking of me the same])

The quiet whiles
In the wee, small hours
when night gives way to flights of dreams
I lay adrift in imaginings
Yes, tonight (my love)
Your linger wraps my thoughts
Unbidden
At times the heart will have its way
As ordinary thoughts find their lustre
When moments touch your grace
What speaks the deep of night
Save missing you
I'm caught in the spell...
I drowse between imaginings
and dreams

Echoes
You compel me
The whisper of your eyes
Seeking purchase in my soul
Unfolding as petals of a rose
So sounds hope when dreams awaken
The vision of your eyes shared with mine
Of things unseen
Yet real
For I believe in transcendent things
In you - us
The somewhere, somehow, everything
Heart begs mind conceive
Believe
...still
I have only heard the sighing of your eyes
Echoing mine

The Way of Love

If love has a place and way of being
I'm lost in the heaven of your eyes
As laughter fades into soft spun moments
Glances linger, golden as summers day
Shimmer, the warmth of your breath, near
Blurring, melting into a kiss
Parched, I drink of your love-soaked lips,
Your desire drenching me to the bone;
When the cosmos fades, leaving nothing
Save you and I, stranded on hope;
We will spend all of eternity with our limbs
Entwined in healing constellations
Your murmur, Love ...
If love has a place and way of being
I'm lost in the heaven of your eyes

Towering Silence
I have no right to you, don't know you
You're just a conjuring of words, like smoke
Signaling something more, yet distant
And I can feel the heat though we've never spoke
Time slows down in dreams, you know
As we try to hold that moment in our minds
Like an old photo, slightly out of focus
That still touches something deep inside
And you, if all my imaginings could be anything
Could be believing
Though I know not your voice in love, or even
Color of your hair, my dreams conceiving
I would touch you
Hand soft...

Visage
Warm glazed sunrise through frost on glass
That views the lawn's faint white traced grass
Then 'cross the road and through the trees
Trunks brown shoed with fallen leaves
Going hushed, collar up, hands in pockets
Cold solitude feeling somehow worth it
I've a wandering soul too long kept home
Here tethered though I've longed to roam
[The sphere of men's a strangling coil, ever tightening
I should've gone rambling, a wilding, a viking
Tossed the dice, cut ties and bonds for room to grow
Loosed the stasis of things to...

Iron & Wine
Dark shadowed among the thorns
The petals blush
We all seek our wounds
Draw blood and are bloodied
Roses are red
Like passion and anger
You and I
Iron and wine
Dust clouds the sun
The moon in her phases
The stars
Dust is all we are
"Ashes to ashes, dust to dust..."
But life
Life is in the blood
Make me bleed that I might believe
In love
I love you best when my love is unfettered
Raw and raging
Swearing oaths in waves coiling
Breaking
Lashing shores parched of storms ...

Choose we the gift of God
Who breathed the breath of life in man
Such glorious awakening
Life's full measure
Love
Found within your kiss
A dream
For none awakened man
From the vision of his Eve
Nor separated could he be
Kiss me
As above, so below
Heaven found within your kiss

By your voice

Day
Tis with but the faintest light that dawn awakens from the night
I have loved in the awkward unknowing of schools
The poise too chaste for near at church
Loved in heights and depths
Loved in pain and joy
Love masquerading in all of these
I have loved
I have loved through the thankless toil of hours
The empty, long nights of bone white stars
And dark
Through brokenness and broken down
At way stations of lonely crossroad places

String of Pearls VI
In quiet hours
Does the distant voice of memory still whisper
And half-remembered
Do you realize it’s mine
For my heart is true and has not forgotten
And calls to you in my dreams so many nights
Perhaps one night you’ll forget to forget
Lost in the silvery call
Of a night bird’s song
An evening breeze and twilight
Will nudge your memory
And
In quiet reverie you’ll chance to think of me
Will you wonder if I remember
Seems what I forgot to remember

Levels and Layers
I watched another sun come up
And another sun has set
As shadows lengthen into the night
But nights no darker than the day
And my life
Both good and bad
Lies wasted in the stain
The feeling of lost
Which cradles me now in emptiness
And for what
For saying I wanted to be kissed as if this was our last breath
For wanting to be part of us
And not a me and you
For wanting warmth and not just a body
Lying beside me in the bed
Work it out!

How many years have I slept...

String of Pearls V
I look to see the road rise up
Touching the pale blue of sky
Hedged by trees
Aflame with autumn’s fire
Which frame it’s either side
And I rise too
On rolling hills as I drive
But no matter
The blue and road are always before me
I can't escape these earthly bonds
Though my spirit feels at one
And I would seek to soar
My mind takes wing
In daydreams and imaginings
And would be at one with all things
But I cannot change the course I’m on
Any more than worry about frontage roads
And wither they...
