My greatest adventure will be
When death comes to me

For no matter how strong
My faith might be
To die is to venture
Into mystery

For no articles or photos
Of the realm of the dead
Have ever been featured
In 'National Geography'

The ultimate extreme to say the least ... The Greeks said, "debitum naturae" - death is the debt of nature.  Thank you for your entry.

fuckin bloody fuckin brilliant for real. wow. rolls like a creation myth or some relgious text from a profit declaring the word of the gods...so much revereanmce for place and space and the energy, blood, tears, sweat of the journey, which is the only reward anyway, cause death is the only gold we'll get as a trophy no way

It pains me to see poets disrespected. This is the work of Robert W Service, called The Spell of the Yukon. He died in 1958. This entry has been removed.

A reminder to comp hosts to please check entries before awarding the trophy (ie the one about to win, especially if it is a poet whose work you not familiar).

Great comp, Lobo, carry on!

My greatest adventure will be

The adventure that's come
At the end of the noise
In the the mud and the blood
There were a few that stood against many

And out of the few
Only left at the end of the noise

Were two

Me and you

Congratulations absinthe!  I absolutely loved your scribe, not only for what you aspire to but the social statement is one that resonates globally.
I'm very happy to be part of your first DUP writing trophy!

... RavenofSorrow and chey_bay17 thank you for your wonderful work as well.

Salud! to all who wrote for this.  Atakti thank you for your diligent eye.

Oh thank you, Lobo! I have been busy away from DUP, writing in solitude, when a DUP friend told me about this win - my first, thank you! I didn't expect a trophy but now I can't claim to be a starving misunderstood poet who won no awards! LOL!

But I did I work hard on that little speech, reading through the Nobel speeches and comments by members of the Swedish Academy on awards to Camus and others, and then the refusal by Sartre to accept the award. One thing that struck me was indeed the Academy's political use of the award (esp at that time) to further Western Culture (and language), perhaps due to the onset of the War (WW1 and WW2) in Europe.

So when I wrote that poem, I was asking myself, why do I write so much in a language that isn't my native tongue?

And of course, reading a speech at the Nobel banquet is my dream adventure!!!

On the very first reading, I fell in love with chey_bay17's poem! I see it is her first trophy too!

Amazing alertness has Atakti! Interesting that Semaj took note of those lines too. Quite sad when plagiarism happens. I notice that it happens a lot at school (at least) when teachers don't bother to ask students about the work (poem or other) that they are submitting.

Again thanks for hosting Lobo, and the pleasure to read the many poems entered. I'll be back more often in DUP perhaps next month after I've done my writing duties, some of which are in my own laanguage this time  ... Cheers! :)
