Poetry Contest

Write a poem detailing reflections of your life in a
COMPETITION RULES:

*     Write a poem in "Recipe-Style Format" detailing a self-reflection of your life
*      Poem must be no longer than 30 lines in length
*      No quantity limitations to submissions per poet (accepting unlimited submissions / entries per poet)

SAMPLE:

GRAPEVINE COCKTAIL OF THE HEART
INGREDIENTS:
Fruits:  Labor, actions, and words
Fruit punch
Smoothies
cocktail mixes: Godly Purpose & Devilish temptation syrup
Sour limes

Encircling the rooftop of my mouth
lies the natural-enticing sweet flavors of the “fruits”
of my labor, actions, and even exchanged words.
Yet, the bitter-spiked “fruit-punch smoothies,”
found in Wisdom's Mystery Recipe
Funneled and strained by God’s divine revelation
of channeled learned experience and observation,
ooze all the way down my belly
reaching the very core of my soul...

My soul and inner-self lies within me
Marinated in a cocktail mix of both,
GODLY PURPOSE with DEVILISH temptation's flavored syrup...
RIGHTEOUS INTENTIONS blended with SINFUL intentions...
Leaving me with the Furious sour-lime heartburns constantly stirring
Deep within the Bitter-Sweet Grapevines of My Heart...
As my mind stirs within my inner-self a "tug-a-war"
As one "buzzed" by the slow-grated-blend of sparkling apple-flavored wine....

Life Recipe

Ingredients:

cups of dreams
tablespoons of challenges
pinches of laughter
handful of tears
tight hugs
true friends
doses of courage
liters of love

Preparation:

In a large bowl, mix dreams with challenges,
mixing well until a homogeneous mass is formed.
Add pinches of laughter,
ensuring they spread throughout the mixture.
Little by little, incorporate the tears,
allowing the dough to become lighter and more malleable.
Add tight hugs and true friends,
mixing carefully so as not to break it.
Pour the dose of courage,
essential to give flavor and consistency to the recipe.
Finally, add the liters of love,
stirring gently until everything is well incorporated.

Serving:

Serve life in generous portions
accompanied by smiles and gratitude.
Decorate with unforgettable moments
and sprinkle with pure pleasure.

RECIPE FOR THE GOOD LIFE

check the recipe once
then do your own thing --
salt is the key
to make a meal sing

a cup and a dash
is the basic design
but sometimes a dish
calls for copious wine

and one must comply
if she is to eat

the night is still young

so...bon apetitt

Your Basic Roux.

To make your basic roux
from which all your dishes
will spring.1st a verb or two
add nouns and adjectives

To taste, let those age
on the bone for a year
or five and make sure
to top up with nouns to

keep your Roux alive.
Stir constantly or it will
stick to the side you
need a consistency

just so. Take a sample
Sometime and throw it
at a wall or person if it
sticks it's ready for use

collect adjectives that
Folk use in everyday talk
these will add flavour to
the basic roux, these can

be simmered for a hundred
Year or more. Use at will.
but caution, some are very
strong and may spoil the

broth. Timely punctuation
Of your basic roux may give
more meaning to the flavour
but once again caution you

may confuse some who
Have no sense, of, taste!
A pinch of reality, the scent
of fear folded in and rolled

out with imagination shaken
On top and then pricked to
impart a pretty pattern. Here,
don't overdo the decoration

of your dish, a little goes a
Long way and may age well
if not some natural colouring
and, perhaps, a swirl of cream

to taste, a drop of brandy in
The mix, for that surprise en flambe?
En, Voilà, a dish fit to make
all your future creations, sweet or
sour, your basic roux?

ATTN: REFLECTIONS: YOUR LIFE RECPE COMPETITORS:

Thank you for your entries!

Unfortunately, I did not maintain this competition open for longer than a week.  However, I do appreciate your participation!

As Madame Lavender, DUP Moderator, once messaged me when I could NOT decide between a few entries who to award as the host:  ALL competitors are WINNERS. They ALL put forth their BEST CREATIVITY forth in their entries.

As the HOST, I like to manually select the WINNER!  You ALL submitted your entries understanding PRECISELY what I was looking for in entries!  Took me a little "back-n-forthing" between the two (Winner & Runner-Up) before making a final decision.  Unfortunately, there isn't an HONORABLE MENTION selection on DUP Competitions yet.

CONGRATS TO ALL.....LA_CARTE, JAVALINI, PAR, REW
