Poetry Contest Description
write a tormented love poem
This is yet another competition related to a a song and the song lyrics.
GAVIN FRIDAY became known for his role in the post punk band The Virgin Prunes. He is an avid fan of Eckhart Tolle, poetry, Dantes Inferno, a walking talking breathing contradiction. I just ADORE him. Id love to have a cup of tea with him and babble away about all kinds of topics.
The song Stations of the cross is a tormented love song, its about tragedies and melancholia
And its about that thinnest line between love and hate.conflicts perhaps his own countries conflicts with religion he is from Ireland
He dedicated the track to Sinnead O connor
The lyrics are in the video! The song is best played out loud to hear its full impact

"Cimmerian Longing"
Beneath the waning, mournful sky
Where shadows dance and spirits sigh
I lingered long, in sorrow's throes
To mourn the love that darkness chose
Her eyes, like stars, did pierce my soul
And bound me fast, unbroken, whole
Yet in their depths, a tempest brewed
Of love's delight and hatred's feud
O sweet torment, thy cruel guise!
To hold her close, yet hear her cries
For every kiss was laced with pain
Each whispered vow, a phantom's chain
We danced on edges, thin as thread
Where life meets death, where tears are bled
Her touch, a fire, both soft and fierce
Did mend my wounds, yet deeper pierce
I loved her smile, her fleeting grace
Yet feared the specter in her face
A shade of doom, a breath of woe
That clung to her like winter's snow
Was she my muse, my heart's delight?
Or specter born of endless night?
I could not tell, nor dared to see
The line 'twixt love and enmity
For when I held her, close, so tight
Her laughter rang like sorrow’s blight
And when apart, her name would sting
As death itself had clipped my wing
Now shadows claim her gentle frame
Yet still I call her sacred name
Though hate and love do weave their spell
I follow her through heaven or hell
O thin divide, O cruel decree
To bind her soul, yet not to me
For love and hate, in dark embrace
Have carved my heart, have marked my face
Beneath the waning, mournful sky
Where shadows dance and spirits sigh
I lingered long, in sorrow's throes
To mourn the love that darkness chose
Her eyes, like stars, did pierce my soul
And bound me fast, unbroken, whole
Yet in their depths, a tempest brewed
Of love's delight and hatred's feud
O sweet torment, thy cruel guise!
To hold her close, yet hear her cries
For every kiss was laced with pain
Each whispered vow, a phantom's chain
We danced on edges, thin as thread
Where life meets death, where tears are bled
Her touch, a fire, both soft and fierce
Did mend my wounds, yet deeper pierce
I loved her smile, her fleeting grace
Yet feared the specter in her face
A shade of doom, a breath of woe
That clung to her like winter's snow
Was she my muse, my heart's delight?
Or specter born of endless night?
I could not tell, nor dared to see
The line 'twixt love and enmity
For when I held her, close, so tight
Her laughter rang like sorrow’s blight
And when apart, her name would sting
As death itself had clipped my wing
Now shadows claim her gentle frame
Yet still I call her sacred name
Though hate and love do weave their spell
I follow her through heaven or hell
O thin divide, O cruel decree
To bind her soul, yet not to me
For love and hate, in dark embrace
Have carved my heart, have marked my face

Why have you forsaken me?
Dawn of our journey.
We found our path,
an embrace like a first station,
hope in every breath.
Together we walked facing fears
in the sacred spring.
The weight of the cross came
as doubt whispered in the wind.
Our love staggered under its heavy burden.
With each step, the road grew steeper,
yet, we bore the weight
through shared tears and laughter.
We stumbled and fell thrice
in moments of despair.
We rose, driven by the light in our eyes.
Giving strength to carry on and believe in us.
With shoulders to lean on
we found our strength anew.
But the thorns of life pricked deeper
and we bled unseen.
Pain hidden beneath smiles
as our love's crown grew heavy.
Each goodbye a crucifixion,
each kiss a resurrection.
We bore the wounds of betrayal,
the kisses of forgiveness.
As a symphony of passion and penitence.
The final station came,
the end of our shared cross.
With a cry that echoed
our love was crucified.
In the silent tomb,
we laid our dreams to rest.
A requiem for what was
and what could have been.
Now, our path has diverged
as the stone rolled away.
Leaving behind memories,
the sacred relics of our time.
The resurrection, not of us,
but of who we became in the aftermath.
