Poetry Contest

stepping out of your norm ...
Is there someone you admire or left in awe after you read? is there a poet that inspires you to release or express yourself in that style or structure?

there was a competition similar called copying a style else where became controversial due to "oh my god he copied me"

it's not about that.

i thought it would be awesome to pick someone i love reading and step outside my box into theirs and challenge myself to write something complimenting their style. plus i'm kinda interested in seeing my style (or content) through someone elses eyes.. lol

you can pick more than one poet if you think you can take on the roll..
no word limit
new post and please refer to whom your complimenting ...

now i must go stalk my favs to see who the lucky one is.. =)

Conflict of interest I'd pick your poet!

Wonderful idea.  Does the poet have to be a DUP poet or can it be a live or ?dead? poet outside DUP.....???

Ah why not, this one goes out to the Devil woman. She stalks me enough

Queen
of the night

with a
       jagged
                  crown

may I...

read your words?
will you
allow me to purge

on your lyrics
I'll envoke

as I gladly
choke

on Daddy's midnight
danger smoke

Could I
.... be wrong?

but I believe
your siren song
is right

yet oh so wrong

but on my reading list
is where you belong

equally fated,
deeply baited

to sins in my mind
that beg not to say

no...

A pleasure trip
now, wont you grip...
the pen in my hand
and
we'll travel the land
for blood and candy

although

I'd be happy
to get on my knees

and whisper your
worth

if you'll
continue to please

me...

WRITING LIKE GINSBERG (Allen Ginsberg)

Go among the whores and find friendship for money

The evenings in rose gardens pretending you like their thorns

The last rose was like a yellow telephone

A paper rose twisted on a wire hanger in the morning

Reminds you of a one night stand with a human seraphim

Who blew and were blown by those who balled in

The void fascist national surveillance cameras

Resurrect your living human Stepford Wives

Even rape could not stop them

Here I am with you on an Inkster roof

They've come to drop off the latest currency

Angelic bombs make the rabid addicts run

I'm not sure if Dani Filth is considered a poet by others, but he is by me. So here's my take:

BLOOD UPON BATHORY: THE COUNTESS PART 1

The Countess awaits in her bathing chambers
For the next virgin sacrifice.
The secret to eternal beauty
Lies with the young flesh, will suffice.
Bathing in the blood of the innocent is
Her way to deal with age.
Slitting the young girl’s throats,
It seems, is a perfect way to feed the rage.

   (Bring me another one
   And another one
I dine on their final breath
   Bring me another one
   And another one
I will relish in their death.)

The servants line up at the dinner bell
Each stark naked with a wooden pail
Forced to their knees, chained to a wall
The only choice is to obey Bathory’s law.

In her orgasmic throes she plans for centuries
To the drink blood of the young.
How else would she retain her grace?
Else she might slowly decay into crumbs.
Age will finally wither her flesh to dust,
If the young are not kept in supply.
She must always keep them all on tap
If she will keep her beauty as her prize.

   (Bring me another one
   And another one
I dine on their final breath
   Bring me another one
   And another one
I will relish in their death.)

Cruel and fair like a vampiric curse,
Porcelain skin foretold in free verse.
Pooling blood upon the white tile,
Leaving the bodies in a heaped up pile.

Hiding from the sun and inquisitions
That come with jealous reek.
Late evening transformations
Inside her bathing chambers come a beast.
Screams that never escape the grounds,
A rending like a loup-garou.
Is not a beast, but Elizabeth.
For her strength, the blood runs true.
In the grip of lingering death,
They all go home to Hell!

   (Bring me another one
   And another one
I dine on their final breath
   Bring me another one
   And another one
I will relish in their death.)

The lukewarm blood leaves her in luster
The Nobles about in envy, they trust her.
Like a princess so delicate and fair
She’s just like a spider, they’re caught in her lair.

BENEATH THE BLOOD: THE COUNTESS PART 2

Through the mist of failing winters,
Ponder upon the shrouds.
Under the blanket of loose snowfall,
Can you see the face
Peeking from the ground?

Lured inside with a promise of riches,
Poisoned poetry whispered.
A trick to catch those of common,
Only to be strung in the night
And among the vespers.

A crimson countess,
So pale beneath the blood.
A blood red goddess,
Slit the skin, let loose the flood.

An utmost chimeric personality,
Full of surety, anger and doubt.
Steadfast constables on the case
Read between the lines
When wolves are about.

Inside her estate of turns.
Slowly eaten away by paranoia,
Demons whisper inside
Her ears are they burn.

A hectic countess,
So pale beneath the hood.
A shadowed goddess,
As she walks her way in the wood.

Family turncoats,
Like a knife in the back.
Took her by the throat,
As if set upon the rack.
Bound her hands,
She could not stall
As they forced her within
And locked behind the walls.

After many years all alone,
Imprisoned behind, where she crept.
Solitude and paranoia with her.
In time she grew weak
And took her final breath.

In time she became a legend,
As a vampiric mistress, evil host.
Her name would live forever
At night to scare the meek
In visions of her ghost.

A crimson countess,
So pale beneath the blood.
A blood red goddess,
Slit the skin, let loose the flood.
