Pushing Buttons

I have worked so hard to hold back the words
Keeping my jaw clenched like the gates of a prison
How my tongue swells purple
Hosting letters with sharp edges
Biting to keep them from forging out
Tears escape the eyes
As pressure fattens within the dome
Knocking inside my teeth
Forcing me to speak them
They crawl out like rats from a sinking ship
My voice coarse
Creaking from my throat from a decade of silence
I have endured your every arrow
Letting the lace of poison sicken me depleted
Purified of fire
Now ready to teach how I am to be treated
