Poetry Contest Description
Let's clear the abandoned list!
It's no secret that it irks me a bit, that competitions get abandoned and no winners chosen, for whatever reasons--hosts genuinely forget, or they get busy outside of DUP, or sometimes they just don't care--I get it, but still, people gave their time to write a poem for the comp, so that should be acknowledged, in my opinion.
Also, as we know, the voting process is painfully slow and it takes weeks and months it seems, just to close one up by voting, so again, they just sit.
So! Let's try an idea I had to maybe see if we can move these along, while having some creative fun and trophies for both the abandoned comps as well as you, in this competition.
Here's how this will work: if you want to enter this competition, you first have to go vote in all 5 of the competitions we have in voting status right now. That will cause you to read all the entries there, in order to choose your favorite. Then, for your entry here to try to win this competition and get a trophy of your own, you have to write a poem (any style, length, no collabs, any topic) that one of those abandoned competition entries, inspires you to write, more than likely it may be the entry you voted for, but when you post your entry here, also say/reference which entry in which abandoned comp, inspired your write.
You can enter up to 5 times, here, that meaning 5 poems, all inspired by something in each of the 5 vote-status comps, thus increasing your chances for a prize/trophy of your own for helping to clear the list (we have 54 more to go, after the present 5....)
We'll start with a week's time, but can extend if needed/wanted, and if you don't want to join this comp, but want to help me pick a winner for this and want to be a judge--PM me. Ready, set, get voting and writing and--go!
(and if this works, and people like this, we can do another one of these comps to move more abandoned comps to completion!)

That's the spirit! Bump & grind, if you want, too--LOL
And even when you're writing your entry for this comp, you can also write it as if you're "entering" one of the abandoned ones, based on the rules set up by the hosts of those, if nothing's coming to mind for inspiration based on your choice for vote. Just notate which abandoned comp you're writing for.

Shame on you miki, bad enough that I've got to suffer listening to that horrible song from my three year old and five year old nieces at least once a week, I'm confronted by Frozen shit on DU too.
Three weeks ago from this Saturday I had to take a four hundred mile trip with those witches, and all the did was sing 'Let It Go' over and over again till I thought I was going to go nuts. Heaping insult to injury, last weekend I was taking care of the coven while their parents went on a short vacation to Chicago, and that's when the third member, a Chihuahua bitch named Sriracha chewed on an Else doll's hair extensions and damn near died.
The vet bill is over a $1000.00
Jesus please help me, "Death To The Mouse!"

Madam L... Id like to send in some entries and help out...
Question, Do I write 5 poems, pick one from each contest?
Just want to be sure I get it right...

Hi and thanks! You can write as many as you want, up to 5 as the limit. The idea is to have entrants vote in all 5 comps and submit at least one entry here, based on what inspires you from any of the comps in voting status, or write like you're actually entering the abandoned comp but post it here. So basically vote in all 5, enter at least one, but if you want to write for all 5, or just a couple of them, that's fine as well.

Looks like we've closed out one comp, so I'll toss up another--feel free to write according to any in voting or any we close up, during this comp. :)

ORIGINAL poem from "nature haiku`s"
Humanity: A Single Grain of Sand
(Five Haikus)
Sunlight reflecting
From the ocean of her eyes
Reminds me of stone.
The stone has no face,
But it sparkles the language
Of the universe.
The universe says,
"You're collectively one grain
Of colorless sand."
The sand forms beaches
Of history, and makes love
To the vast ocean.
The ocean knows all.
Your eyes tell time's full story.
They know the language.
------------------------------------------------------
my poem
RIDDLED
Do you see me?
Wrapped in the internal unfolding of the light
That glistnes upon the waves
In the high treetops
Shards of amber
Roamed the night skies
The eye of the universe
Knows my secrets well
Knows my name
The fossils in the creek
Speak the soil
Leave no stones untouched
Wind awakens fire
Fire formed from creation
The world awakens
Before time slept
Stars hold the knowledge
Of the wisdom kept

Inspired by Cheater submission, WRUNG OUT
http://i1317.photobucket.com/albums/t623/curlycue23/pure%20white%20backround_zpsl2ctt1lx.png
Cheater Cheater strumpet eater
Had a wife and couldn't keep her;
She sued him with a divorce bill
The cost of which made him ill
Now poor Cheater only gets to eat
What the dumpster has for treats

Abandoned
You’d abandon me
In this; my finest hour
The poem I sent you
Is the finest poem
That’s ever been written
But it will pass into
The mists of obscurity
Disappear without trace
And no one will know
And no one will care
It’s almost like it was
Never actually written
Consigned to the shredder
Filling the landfill site
With beauty unseen
Maybe the ravens,
Sparrows and gulls
Will reassemble my
Verse and pay it more
Attention than you have
Maybe they will sing
Of its magnificence
As the morning sun
Warms up steaming
Piles of garbage
Or maybe it will be
Buried with the rest
Of the shit
You’d abandon me
In this; my finest hour
The poem I sent you
Is the finest poem
That’s ever been written
But it will pass into
The mists of obscurity
Disappear without trace
And no one will know
And no one will care
