Poet Introduction

Born the year Kennedy was shot, and now sharing a birthday with 9/11, my poetry is always informed by truth and the need to communicate the human condition.

About Me

Read Full
Trevor Maynard is a poet, playwright and editor, born the year Kennedy was shot, whose birthday is now shared with 9/11.  His first forays into writing were self-published poetry pamphlets "Pathways" and "Oils on Water" in 1984, distributed through family and friends, and printed on an old Roneo press!  Then life took a dramatic turn, quite literally, with a Drama degree at Royal Holloway, London.  Playwriting became his main focus, spending ten years writing and directing in London and touring.  Four of his one act plays are published in the collection "Four Truths".    Throughout his life though, poetry has been bubbling through and in 2009, Willowdown Books published his first poetry collection, "Love, Death and the War on Terror", followed by "Keep on Keepin' On" in 2012.  His latest collection GREY SUN, DARK MOON, was pubished by Willowdown Books in September, 2015.  Trevor runs a professional networking poetry group on LinkedIn - "Poetry, Review and Discuss", and is the editor of The Poetic Bond series of international annual anthologies, now in its fifth year, and published in paperback and Kindle.  His philosophy behind curating the collections is to harness the energetic world of new media and social networking and to actively engage in sharing poetry with as wide an audience as possible.  His process is to start without preconception, literally a blank page onto which the submitted works are metaphorically strewn, coalescing into a mutual theme, evolving organically to form a poetic bond which becomes an anthology.  THE POETIC BOND V will be published 21 October, 2015.  Finally, every now and then, you can find Trevor performing his work at open mics around London.
