Revelation
I saw a shooting star
before the sun had risen
I wished for us, near or far
to holdfast our intuition
I closed my eyes and saw
upon that inhaled moment
contentment of our hearts
a vulnerable exposure
and dreary days consoled
snuggled up under blankets
our hands together fold
into cashed-in rain checks
for that’s how love becomes
while the birds pluck the worm
and the bees dutifully buzz
I’ll be your only girl
before the sun had risen
I wished for us, near or far
to holdfast our intuition
I closed my eyes and saw
upon that inhaled moment
contentment of our hearts
a vulnerable exposure
and dreary days consoled
snuggled up under blankets
our hands together fold
into cashed-in rain checks
for that’s how love becomes
while the birds pluck the worm
and the bees dutifully buzz
I’ll be your only girl

Revival
I have pondered as of late
The time we share in this space
How once so many years ago
Those memories have faded
But I used to know
You recall and tell the tales
Stories of our love unveiled
And I know I smoked too much dope
As the details blurred and I lost hope
I thought the day would never come
But to my surprise you told me first
Like a lost bird in stormy winds ablown
My broken wings wouldn’t bring me home
So you cleared the skies
With your glittering green eyes
To show me where I had lost my way ...
The time we share in this space
How once so many years ago
Those memories have faded
But I used to know
You recall and tell the tales
Stories of our love unveiled
And I know I smoked too much dope
As the details blurred and I lost hope

Eras
I could talk to you for years
Over the eras we’ve bypassed
Formulating our synchronicities
In starry-eyed conversation
How a moment passes so slow
In your elegant presence
I feel I’ve aged gracefully
While staring into your eyes
For the past 10 minutes
For the last 10 years
Singing my heart for you
Somehow I’m still surprised
By the frequencies we’ve traversed
Together, though unknowing
And yet have come back
To one another’s embrace
Over the eras we’ve bypassed
Formulating our synchronicities
In starry-eyed conversation
How a moment passes so slow
In your elegant presence
I feel I’ve aged gracefully
While staring into your eyes

Summer Solstice
I sip my coffee slowly
As I’m watching the waves crash
Here on a picnic bench, out by the beach
With eggs and hash
Got up before my wife
I left her sleeping in our bed
I’m doing what I love
Walking the streets, clearing my head
I made it to my breakfast stop
Before they opened up
They quickly made my order
My name scribbled on a cup
I decided to not wake her
She is usually by my side
But not today, woke up afraid
All these questions cloud my mind
Did I reach my full potential?
Did I...

Old Age
I saw him staring at me
and I wondered what he saw.
Was it the days of long ago
or was he seeing what he saw.
Was he staring at my hair
turning a lovely shade of dull brown gray.
Or maybe it was my eyes of faded green
that weep from severe dry eye all damn day.
Or could it be that small spare tire
I proudly wear around my waist
never disappearing
just adding to my lovely rectangle shape.
Or possibly he's wondering
why I am looking back at him.
Are the same unappealing thoughts
running through his hairless head? ...

Voluntary captivity
I was your afternoon pleasure
When no one was around
You played the flute
Desires were paramount
Now we have matured
You still have me
But boldly you mount
To feel me inside
When no one was around
You played the flute
Desires were paramount
Now we have matured
You still have me
But boldly you mount
To feel me inside

Slow Hands
Slow hands slow walks slow smiles .How slow time works . How you see everything it’s not just a flash in the pan . How you see the stars and the mediocrity just the same and take it . How you don’t get to carried away . Swept up into your own dreams and not face the reality . Love will one day be old and shuffle in bones that ache to hold their old time friend wife husband and walk side by side. And how they have learnt that slowing things down meant they never let the other feel behind of ahead as they waited on words spoken and replies a real communication with two . Who have now seen the...

Page one hundred and ten
And I miss you like the dessert needs the rain .
He whispered to himself hoping somehow those
words could transcend time and reach the other
side . He believed that they did so this became
his daily mantra . He wanted her to know how lost he felt forty five years down the line and now he felt like a school boy at the first day of term . Satchel and pens but he was sure he’d left something behind him . His eyes thoughtfully caught her reading book and glasses on the side by her chair . There was comfort in that bookmarked at page one hundred and ten . He had wanted to...

Missing Your Lips
Nervous in the back of the van
You were cradled across my lap
I leaned to steal our first kiss
Oh how I miss your lips
Listening to records on the floor
I moved in closer wanting more
I decided I would take the risk
Oh how I loved that kiss
Front seat sitting in the dark
Making out slowly in the park
Every moment was such bliss
Oh how I miss your lips
In my bedroom late at night
Tongues tracing our mouths inside
So many moments to reminisce
Oh how I loved that kiss

God's gift
If you ever lived your life
And you felt something
Missing
That's gods gift
Your the one thing I need
To sleep, if I can't touch you
The I'm not one with
God's gift
I remember always seeing you
In my life and I never taught
That you would be my
God's gift
How could God gift me you and
Not warn me that you will be my biggest
Addiction, my pain, pain killer, my evermost kitchen taster
My wife
My lover
My friend
My God's gift.

Unrequited Devotion
In the depths of his heart, he'd do all in his power,
For the one he adored, his love's guiding tower.
He offered his hand, proposed with great zeal,
Yet her heart belonged to another, a love she couldn't conceal.
He built her a home, a sanctuary to embrace,
But her affections lay elsewhere, a different love's embrace.
He provided and cared, giving all that he could,
Yet her heart remained distant, her love understood.
Years passed as they wed, their union endured,
Yet the flame of her heart for another still endured.
He tended to...
