The Lost Books
The news announced the sinking ship;
water pushing its metal hull
off a gangplank of the straight
until it crumbled as crystal over rock
Planes spotted flotsam and jetsam
—pinched debris riding a caterpillar
of watery waves inching across the sea—
its waterlogged bite engorged
from strewn pages as leaves
sinking into a survivorless
translucency
Below, a commandeered army
—a delegation of new ghosts
manifesting posthumously
because sometimes Poseidon reads
while sitting peacefully at his desk—

An Atmospheric River
It's never too soon on days like today
to energize all of the party lights
and watch the lingering leaves blow away
in vortical El Nino flights...
where, in with the fresh air and rain,
spins new activity of thought
unwinding that twist in my brain
which the Halloween candy had brought.
So now I watch the clouds come and go,
like kisses supplying anew,
the reasons for the future to grow
even when skies are no longer blue...
but tinged here and there with an evening...
to energize all of the party lights
and watch the lingering leaves blow away
in vortical El Nino flights...
where, in with the fresh air and rain,
spins new activity of thought
unwinding that twist in my brain
which the Halloween candy had brought.
So now I watch the clouds come and go,
like kisses supplying anew,
the reasons for the future to grow
even when skies are no longer blue...
but tinged here and there with an evening...

The Path of Least Resistance
I thought it sounded a little crazy
But his theory could go the distance
When he claimed that water is lazy
It takes the path of least resistance.
And when it comes to an impasse
It will try to find a new course,
But given enough volume and mass
It can become a destructive force.

Freedom In My Movement (Love Found In My Stillness)
Blinders on while wallowing in sullen garments passed down by whores
Pretty words, fletched from the wishing wells, dipped in the forefathers’ tongues feeling the karma of its fourscore
Bathing in the spillage of blood, bitter fruit echoes from the tress, yet, to the mirror’s reflection promoting self-love, not found in the depth of my purifying seas
Whips and shame lament captivity housed in chains, tattered of flesh tarred and feathered, cries of freedom no more
I have seen, heard the intellect crying during systematic pain
Color blinded by whitewashed...

A nail from a
missing shingle
caught my
leggings
as I watched the
bloated carcass
of my neighbor’s dog
drift past
the rain gutters.
I could hear survivor
cries in the distance
and I added my
voice to theirs
in some vain
hope that
helicopter
salvation,
was real.
Beneath my cold
wet,
shoeless,
body
lies the
sodden
remains of
a life.
My grandpa’s ashes
bobbing...

Multi-faceted
Only in one direction,
the mountain waterfall rushes
It takes you to the world of oblivion,
Where dreams are like a masquerade
But he runs without stopping,
He is at the feet of the rugged mountains
Rocks twist ropes from him,
Appointing a sentence
The waterfall kisses the feet,
Pleasing the cold stone
He is looking for a way to her heart,
Because Love is so multi-faceted ...

The Book of Things
They say to me in their awakening,
"You and the world you live in are but a grain of sand upon the infinite shore of an infinite sea."
And in my dream I say to them,
"I am the infinite sea, and all the worlds are but grains of sand upon my shore."
Kahlil Gibran

He had dreamed a dream and awoke to the feel of it as real. He lay in stillness with the thought until he could remember every part and then he arose and wrote it down. He kept a book of dreams though these he never showed but only kept and read, and perhaps in the margin later...

Hymn to Water
They were windsurfing on the lake today.
Storm Kathleen was rolling in after all
and so I watched them on a jetty
skim the waves with all the grace
of Bambi on ice.
The sports club owns that one—
charges exorbitant fees to dive
as well as insisting on wet-suits
and tow-floats and lifeguards
and other shit sucking the life
from wild experiences.
I don’t swim there.
I refuse to be sanitised
and maybe as forty looms
I carry with me the spirit
of my anarchic era
...

Besotted
Besotted .The word alone conjures a deep, expensive Cabernet, one that surrenders your shame and drips warm syrupy liquid into your cleavage. So seductive is it to be besotted that soon you are pouring wine over your head, requiring full immersion, guzzling this nectar of the gods until you drown. Drowning in Cabernet is a capitulation to exquisitely perfect men; the long-standing denizens of your tortured imagination.
Don't drown. Swim. Swim with him, this real man, the one who lives here, not in your nebulous realms. Swim with his imperfections, his bald spot, his stubborn,...

Nocturnal Tranquility...
Tucked within the Blue Ridge tapestry,
I watched, with passion, as skies of sun
and indigo kissed day goodbye.
Droplets of dew fell from the ether
to then be carried upon a chaotic zephyr
while I bundled around the fire.
As hues of muted grey painted the sky,
the moon made its debut in a pale,
yet supple form; granting the slightest mångata atop the liquid mirth.
As the cosmos embraced the lake from
the expanse of its astral plane,
I played voyeur; wrapped up in their moonlight reverie, and thoroughly
enjoying the cold, yet...
