Naked Winter
The leaves of Autumn have fallen
Nature is caught up in winter's naked embrace
The winds don't sing a winter song
Instead they blow and moan
Crying the blues
While the shadows of trees
Lay down upon the season's first snow
Trees that reach their boney fingers towards the sky
A plea for mercy, in solemn prayer
The bitter wind cuts deep and nothing is as cruel
As a winter that exposes everything naked and bare
And lays a heavy burden on backs and shoulders
The sun's power has seemed to have drained away
A solitary brittle brown...

weeping willow
Last night I woke up in the middle of the night from tossing at turn and
I wrapped my arms around my soft pillow,
Trying not to cry cause i miss you.
Staring out the window at the weeping willow tree
In my backyard and i and wonder
Why does my weeping willow weep? Why all her tears?
Has it lost her one true love, like I lost mine?
He went away with not even a goodbye
Don't worry heart , everything heals with time willow
We will see the light at the end of the tunnel
I promise

The Things That Trees do Hear
Oh, if the trees could talk!
The stories they would tell!
Of lovers, or family members, out for a spring walk,
Of the beautifully overcast afternoon wishes, made at the "Ol' Wishing Well",
Of lumberjacks at work, and of gardeners planting trees.
Of the lovesick, picking flowers for their betrothed or longingly searching for answers as they pick the petals off a daisy,
Of twittering birds, fluttering butterflies, and buzzing honeybees,
Of morning strolls with a hot coffee.
Of dappled sunlight, spring showers, and the ocassional mushroom growth, ...

Bird Of Winter
A bird of Winter never leaves,
but remains behind
among the trees.
All the others far have flown
to winter Edens in
temperate zones.
I cannot see, but only hear,
my eyes stung with
crispest air
and whitest sky against grey limbs
twisted above
alone and slim.
The joyful bird echoes melodic notes
it's whitest wings
spread out as it floats
and lifts from one...

Dancing in the Trees
Laying in the grass
Looking at the sky
You turn to me and say:
"Go run and hide!"
I jump quickly to my feet
I begin to run
"One, two, three...
Ready or not, here I come"!
Your voice fades with the setting sun
Sprinting through the fields
My feet barely touching the ground
I dive into a patch of grass
Patiently waiting to be found
Your voice is getting nearer
"Emily..."
I try not to make a sound
I burst into laughter
Knowing I've been found
"I've got you!"
And for a moment, ...
Looking at the sky

meanderings in Prague
there's a place that exists
only for you, where
time is a flat circle,
the sky a cobalt blue;
amaranth and
star of bethlehem strew
themselves over
beds of yellowed fescue
like lovers stretching
upon a mattress; there,
wind combs her fingers
through your hair, presses
her chest to your scapulae—
Can't you feel her breathe?—
embraces, whispers silt,
bequeaths to you her old love
before dearly departing again,
the gale there teeming
with fragrance of damp hair,
with the warm...

Small and simple things
What is it about the washed out gray of old country roads which seem to lead aimlessly to nowhere
And yet seem to call me home through the lost miles and memories
The wild grass ripples at the caress of the wind
Rust colored florets strewn with daisy white and dandelion yellow,
And goldenrod too
Banking the red clay ditches which hem the road
...And the trees and farms which lie farther on
A redtail hawk sat solitary on the line
A silent sentinel as I drove by
More powerful for it wasn't lost soaring the azure blue of the...

Sipping on this earl grey I come to an epiphany
Were you really meant for me?
Were you meant for me or just one of those leaves on my tree I Asxylum (asylum/xylum)
Gave you a sense of a new taste of living without intervention
Faulty of me cause those doors I decided to pry em
Such a beautiful leaf with bipolar symmetry, which were your true intentions?
Veins filled with words you fed me you knew how to Phloem (/flow em)
Yet you kept your guards cause this isn't the conditions you tend to grow in

Into The Woods
Away from the home a little girl roamed farther and farther she strayed.
Then in a rush she went deep in the brush until hopelessly losing her way.
Fighting her fear till shedding a tear she pondered a horrible fate.
She sat on the ground while looking around as it grew terribly late.
Among the timbering oak one gently spoke to the trembling child.
“Please have no fear, you’ll be safe with us here, sheltered from the wild.”
Shocked and surprised she doubted her eyes and her betraying ears.
Then one by one more trees joined in the fun to calm the little girls...

From Mushroom Rings To Redwood Trees
Grasp, reluctant to scattered release-
Sprouts of air, into dust drifted seeds-
Floated trip, held high, on springing breeze-
---
All will fall, and find nestle in dirt-
Patience itself, awaiting own birth-
Taking nothing, to give in return-
---
Given to ride, on winds reternal grip-
Embrace of both, released in their kiss-
Anytime dew, formed from crisp fallen mist-
---
Anew lover, formed from flight beneath-
Glimpse of grasp, as symbiotics meet-
And thus, the thirst, gives itself to seed-

Vertigo Rising
After an accident to my head,
I was taken to hospital
Disappearing in body and mind.
When I finally emerged, pale
And squinting in the sun’s glare,
I hadn’t felt it for months.
The lights of traffic & media,
The bafflement I had in public
Longing to be in my cocoon;
To sleep in a big, clean bed,
To gaze out my own windows
Overlooking the garden & trees.
The long killer summer with its
Triple digits left suddenly,
Follow’d by what I was dying for.
But now I...
