Covenant of the Stars (A Poem for Progress)
Journey to the Stars
We stand at the edge of a dream,
A whisper carried on the winds of time,
From ancient sands where Abraham walked,
A covenant made beneath endless skies.
He set forth, not knowing the road,
A man with faith as his only map.
He left the known for the promise of more,
A seed of hope in the soil of the vast unknown.
And now, we too are called,
Not to one land, but to all the heavens.
To chart the stars and claim the void,
To carry life where silence reigns.
But the road is hard, the...

White Sands
Jackal and carron picked my remains
yet still I lay
white sands
starry night body flayed
yet still I lay
white sands
bleached sun dried partially buried
yet still I lay

Pueblo Wedding
Pueblo Wedding
Cruising the asphalt road to Cibola
Ancient Mission beckons
From the desert shore of a primordial sea
Now sear hills in a brown terrain of mountains
We follow the river of highway
Onto the parking lot
Of the church made from the mud of ages
Shaped by earthen hands of ancestors
Whose chants haunt the whispering wind
Upon parting the gates of the sanctuary
Low and behold a Wedding unfolding
We enter the sacred space
Where ancient art
of pueblo women gathering corn
is frescoed on...

Ringside
Tracy takes me to Ringside Steakhouse the day before my birthday
We get our entrees at 9:30 PM.
I've flown from Phoenix to Portland
Spent Thanksgiving with my sister
Then taken the train to Tacoma to visit old friends
By the time a bus gets me back to Portland, it's late and I'm not very hungry
I haven't seen Tracy in 14 years
and it's only the second time seeing him in almost twenty
He's not on social media, so I didn't know how to age him in my mind
I never thought of him as fat,
but he's lost something like 50 pounds ...

Laughlin from the Sky
A sudden land blaze
Where am I?
The sky is honest
The land tells lies.
So many patchwork quilts
Neat human geometry
the higher you go.
45 minutes from Phoenix
a small crop of flashing signs below,
a river behind them.
I'm always guessing in the air
Where am I?
But I'm fairly certain i know this: Laughlin, Nevada
A weekend...what?
Fourteen years ago?
I want to start parsing that weekend
Neat cognitive geometry
Remembering this
Selectively forgetting that. ...

distant shores
i stand
easily
on sand,
watching
the waves
come
and go,
back and
forth,
my soul
fantasizes
about going
places,
and as i
stand at
the
beginning
of my
world,
i imagine
touching
those
distant
shores.

Boundless Horizons
We leapt from the heavens, hand in hand,
Plunging through clouds to kiss the land.
The wind screamed loud, but we heard only laughter,
Two souls entwined, chasing ever after.
A river beckoned, its wild heart untamed,
Through rapids and ripples, our courage reclaimed.
In a two-seater canoe, we danced on its waves,
Adventurers bold, no need to be saved.
The sea called next, with its predator's grin,
Among shark-filled waters, our love pulled us in.
We marveled at creatures, vibrant and free,
A symphony of life beneath...

All Over The Place In Chicago, Illinois
I was in the city of Chicago during the beginning of college to find the best college that had the best spirit when it came to welcoming their new students.
I briefly toured University Illinois Chicago
Then I traveled to Ohio somewhere in time during an event known as Blink.
Enjoy, with Love and Hugs, always,
SKC🤎

Wild Beneath the Stars
That night, in the cozy warmth of the tent, they lay beside each other, wrapped in their sleeping bags, the sound of the wind rustling the tent walls around them. At first, the space between them felt vast, but as the night deepened and the conversations flowed, they found themselves inching closer, unconsciously seeking each other's warmth.
They talked about the stars visible through the small window of the tent, about their adulthoods, and about the freedom they felt here, away from the chaos of their usual lives. At one point, their hands brushed, and neither of them pulled...

cheap hotel room
Its got a comfortable bed
and rustic decor
but the view out my window
is a brick wall
and there's dead cockroaches
scattered across my floor
The complimentary coffee is bad
the shower's temperamental
but the walls of this room are thicc
and I can't hear anyone yelling
or fucking or playing loud music
while I'm trying to sleep
I'm glad I picked up groceries
for breakfast already
because the roach problem
isn't giving me much confidence
about their breakfast menu
and I'm not up for a...

Wanderings of A Crimson Seer
The crimson seer doth roam
With bones and rites in tow
Her weary steps through loam
'Neath skies that ever glow
The runes she casts in flame
The stars her secret guide
She calls each fate by name
And bids the veil divide
With trembling hands she grasps
The orb of midnight’s hue
In shadows deep, she clasps
The threads that none construe
Her whispered words of old
In tongues both dark and fey
Doth summon powers bold
To show what none dare say
The cards she spreads with care
Each...

Plane 2 Spain
Alright, geez, let me give ya the squeez,
'Bout James Rocco, who had his fees,
In Hazza West, down at Wacko’s place,
Where the drugs flowed free, it was quite a disgrace.
With cider in hand and the parties ablaze,
The nights were a blur, lost in the haze,
"Oi, Rocco!" they'd shout, "Another round, mate!"
And his liver cried mercy. It wasn’t so great.
GT levels were sky-high at 178,
Yet Rocco would laugh, "It’s me usual state!"
Friends all around, in houses and streets,
Drug use was...
