Suburbian Life in America
A normal Monday morning in America, circa 1960's
Mom's in the kitchen
Dad goes to work
Kid goes to school
A normal Monday morning in America, circa 1990's
Mom juggling three jobs
Dad's in jail
Kid comes out of the closet
A normal Monday morning in America, circa 2020's
Mom suffers from PTSD and can't work
Dad is a full time college student and can't work
Kid is allergic to life and anything outside of the bedroom and can't go to school

THE TRAP OF CATEGORIZING
Our day-to-day existence
is continually being
bombarded with efforts
to categorize everything
from A to Z and beyond.
This is especially true
when it comes to we humans.
In our minds, we practice
analyst management:
We categorize by gender,
height, weight, looks, gay, straight,
performance, education, religion,
ethnicity, morality, values,
tastes, talent, etc., etc.
Yes, perhaps in some disciplines
such as science and medicine
category analyst is essential.
But for me, and speaking
only for me,...

Shamanism
born as Buryat
Mongolia
Siberia
these are the names
forefather foremother gave me
horse shoed donkey eyed
we climbed at times barefoot
arctic lupines teething icicles
slivers silver camouflaged
until mauve mirrors grew
gongs tremble skies
songs sighed
antlers bear hives
Tuvan tongues
snow flaked
we are the only ones
ancient
architects
of
silence

Sweet Skin of Fog
For Brigid
A blank page lays open-handed
ready to hold this story
but all that oozes from the veil
is a memory of a memory
You appeared while I was writing
Specter from a past life
my Celtic blood lived
Conversation becomes the hardest thing to carry
under the weight of history
Our own senses become weapons
for and against yourself
over what to believe
Your sweet skin of fog
escaped from its sepulchre
becoming the chill winter morn
You asked if you needed a calling...

I SAW HER RIDE (LADY GODIVA BY PEEPING TOM)
I saw her ride,
legs to one side,
nothing to hide
amid the street,
while the discreet
let not eyes meet.
Her long thick hair
covered her, bare,
to derriere.
She sat upright
in the dim light
as day met night.
No more I saw -
my eyes went sore
sight did withdraw.
I'd been struck blind,
things could not find.
Guilt seared my mind.
legs to one side,
nothing to hide
amid the street,
while the discreet
let not eyes meet.
Her long thick hair
covered her, bare,

House rules...house rules...& mayhem
there were House rules
{before, during & after church}
none of them unreasonable & never once tested
we showered, brushed our teeth & sat down to eat
before donning the appropriate garment
heaven forbid we wrinkle or get it dirty
hair must be brushed until it shone
barrettes for the girls...boys hair must be smooth
only then were we deemed presentable
one by one we'd get in the car
none of our weekday shenanigans
we could joke & be silly
just be mindful of what we were wearing
upon arrival there were further...

No Footprint, Contrarian, Cash is King
Yeah
That's me
Contrarian
I like using cash
No footprint
Off the grid mind set
Food and liquor mostly
Frequently quizzing cashiers
How many people pay cash ?
I want know
Stats are currency
I do things differently
Own person
Cash still King

Sensitive Heels
In ancient lands where heroes tread,
Achilles and Patroclus, their love widespread.
Through Trojan War, their bond was bold,
a tale of hearts, both fierce and gold.
With Troy behind, they journeyed on.
Their love's bright flame, a blazing dawn.
Olympic Gods, with hearts so kind,
bestowed their blessing fates entwined.
On fields of Elysium they roamed,
in laughter, joy, their spirits honed.
Achilles' strength and Patroclus' grace.
A love eternal, time can't erase.
In every battle, side by side, ...

National Lobotomy
Fucking fools got one party rule
to goose-step the necks of motley thought
wherever the people's genius is taught
but especially in public school
where they don't hang enough pictures of Christ
with the hipster hair and funeral gown
or the shoulder cross and the thorny crown
ghoulishly hoping for a soul to heist
and then to teach it in private lessons
about la-di-da in the great beyond
due to all the guns of which they are fond
such as your choice of Smith and Wessons
because no one scrolls like...

My Confession
My confession is I'm the lesson.
I take the heat, and I burn.
I'm still stressin'.
I'm not pressin'.
Don't want anything in return.
I want you messin',
With my breasts and...
I want you sectioned.
Or upturned.
My confession.
Is the lesson.
It's the word, that is the bird.
I take the heat, and I burn.
I'm still stressin'.
I'm not pressin'.
Don't want anything in return.

Dating is Dated (or should be)
Much like kindergarten
prepares children for childhood
the 1950s model of dating
prepared young men and women for their adult roles.
In the old days
the man was the provider
so he paid on dates.
The woman took great care with her appearance,
a crucial part of her role.
Sometimes the man ordered for the woman in restaurants
without even consulting her.
I wouldn't have survived.
"The lady will have the salmon"
"Eww! I will not. I HATE fish!"
That would have...
