Do you think the wolf cried when it caught you?
Do you think it sobbed for hours after it consumed your heart, feasted on your soul?
You ran so fast,
You must have been exhausted.
You were so small,
Delicate and childlike.
Your grace was unknown,

If Everything Were Right
In life's tapestry of twists and turns,
A paradox in each lesson learned:
If all were right, no shadows cast,
Would we truly cherish moments past?
For sweetness blooms in contrast's embrace,

When I think about you
I think about dads blue F150
And Zac Brown Band CHICKEN FRIED blasting on repeat
Those winding Georgia roads
A little sick and a little in love
We begged our parents for $300 and some alone time
Yours said yes way quicker than mine
Betsy convinced Penny and of course she agreed
10 hours on the road with hands gripped
Together on laps and faces on faces
We became adults in those 3 days alone
To the grocery store we went

Oh, to run
My brothers and I running through fields
of poppies and haybales.
dinner is ready in 5 minutes, my loves
never did we go on time, we let what we thought was
10 minutes go by and then we’d return.
Still, dinner had 15 minutes left to go.
We could have used those minutes
so wisely but instead we obeyed.
I think my mother wished we defied her sometimes
so, we can enjoy the beauties
of the open fields and endless greens.
Dinner was great but let’s run again,
this time we would climb up thick trees and skinny trees
