In Her Girlish Wistful Gaze
In her girlish wistful gaze,
She now laments those fleeting days.
Youth's whispered echos, soft and clear,
Her innocence fades, replaced by fear.
Regret looms like clouds from her past,
Her youthful lust is all that lasts.
She now laments those fleeting days.
Youth's whispered echos, soft and clear,
Her innocence fades, replaced by fear.
Regret looms like clouds from her past,
Her youthful lust is all that lasts.

The Wolf's Lament
Do you think the wolf cried when it caught you?
Do you think it sobbed for hours after it consumed your heart, feasted on your soul?
You ran so fast,
You must have been exhausted.
You were so small,
Delicate and childlike.
Your grace was unknown,
Your mind not yet mature.
Your legs barely had enough strength to carry you,
And you had ran as much as you could.
When you dropped to the ground,
Feeling the bed you were soon to lie in,
Were you scared?
When those teeth wrapped carefully around your throat, ...
Do you think it sobbed for hours after it consumed your heart, feasted on your soul?
You ran so fast,
You must have been exhausted.
You were so small,

Feeling the bed you were soon to lie in,
Were you scared?
When those teeth wrapped carefully around your throat, ...

If Everything Were Right
If Everything Were Right
In life's tapestry of twists and turns,
A paradox in each lesson learned:
If all were right, no shadows cast,
Would we truly cherish moments past?
For sweetness blooms in contrast's embrace,
In shadows' dance and challenges we face,
If skies were always clear and bright,
Would stars still dazzle in endless night?
The bitter taste, the uphill climb,
They lend the heart its rhythm, its rhyme,
If everything flowed as a tranquil stream,
Would spirits yearn, would we dare to dream?
The...

Young Love
When I think about you
I think about dads blue F150
And Zac Brown Band CHICKEN FRIED blasting on repeat
Those winding Georgia roads
A little sick and a little in love
We begged our parents for $300 and some alone time
Yours said yes way quicker than mine
Betsy convinced Penny and of course she agreed
10 hours on the road with hands gripped
Together on laps and faces on faces
We became adults in those 3 days alone
To the grocery store we went
“Lets make the perfect grilled cheese” you said
Damn you knew how much I loved...

We Should've Let Her Stay Home
Dad find it to
be very
annoying each
time he takes his teenage
daughter along for the
family vacation
because the boys want to hit on her.

Even Though It's September
Maggie knows that
even though
it's September,
she would rather be at
the beach and not be bored
out of her mind sitting
in a classroom and hearing teachers.

Her First Night and Simpler Times
He must have glanced down to marvel at her body trembling
with vigor. She was like a young stallion finding her legs.
Her strength and grace had grown
from a childhood spent in dance classes.
I'd spent spent years watching her skills and confidence increase.
The boy who took her that night must have seen the pride in my eyes.
He knew I loved my daughter, a precious girl always amazed with life.
The unworthy boy and his naive lover didn't speak,
but must have held each other as if a gust of wind might
blow them apart at any...

Oh, to run
My brothers and I running through fields
of poppies and haybales.
dinner is ready in 5 minutes, my loves
never did we go on time, we let what we thought was
10 minutes go by and then we’d return.
Still, dinner had 15 minutes left to go.
We could have used those minutes
so wisely but instead we obeyed.
I think my mother wished we defied her sometimes
so, we can enjoy the beauties
of the open fields and endless greens.
Dinner was great but let’s run again,
this time we would climb up thick trees and skinny trees
and...

Forever waiting
I lay here waiting for the day we meet again
why is it the great gears of life not turn in our favor my dear
why must i deal with the anguish of having to wait for that day.
I am a broken man but strong to these words
"I will wait for you"
and so time goes on unchanged
springs, summers, falls, winters
still I wait for you.
and as I draw my last breath, I wait for you.
now we get to meet anew
me as not me and you as not you.

My childhood was filled with a bright little girl,
She was sweet and had silly little curls.
She’d spend the evenings reading in bed,
with a book in her hand,
and the world in her head.
She’d build figures out of lego,
but she never wanted to let go,
of the One Direction fish she kept in her room,
next to a Harry Styles doll with only one shoe.
I used to skate in the car park right next to my house,
hold on to my Dad, so I wouldn’t fall down.
I’d ride around on my bike, and bruise up my knees.
We’d bake cakes and...
