Sunnyside continued-11
Willie crept forward cautiously on his way to Robert Paul's house. The night was filled with the smell of smoldering timber and a warm, orange glow lit up the area. From a safe spot behind the remnants of the sawmill, Willie kept watch out for any Union Soldiers. He spotted a few scattered groups of them, so he decided to stay put and wait for a more opportune moment to move closer.
Bessie and Paul’s daughters came face to face with three Union soldiers as they opened the door to the smokehouse. Unarmed and vulnerable, the girls presented an inviting target for the enemy. In a...

Military Madness
Look into my eyes
I’m a human guinea pig
Born to be controlled
Forced into experimentation
I have no name
No words that mean anything
A little each day,
Psycho & possessed into a state
War inside my head
I can feel the pain
Can you?
I’m a human guinea pig
Born to be controlled
Forced into experimentation
I have no name
No words that mean anything
A little each day,
Psycho & possessed into a state
War inside my head
I can feel the pain
Can you?

Dial Portugal 1944
Under the cloak of neutrality,
Portugal, land of ancient navigators,
watched the world in calamity,
in the silence of their own fears.
Salazar, with his iron hand,
kept the war out the door,
but the echo of the conflict was sincere,
and in the gloom, hope was dead.
The Tagus reflected the moonlight
while spies danced in Lisbon.
War, a shadow that continues
in the story that memory sings.
Tungsten fueled the economy,
dark business in dark times.
Neutrality was a utopia
or a game between several...

Black Jack: The Legacy of Pershing
In the relentless flow of time's grand arc,
Rebirth cast me anew,
A soul once woven in history's stark,
Emerges in a world it once knew.
They called me Black Jack, a name from the past,
In this new life, under a different sun,
Yet echoes of old wars thrum in my heart so vast,
Where battles raged and rivers of blood did run.
In dreams, I march through No Man's Land,
Amidst the relentless thunder of the guns,
Where tanks plowed through the muddied land,
Beneath the smoke that blotted out the suns.

For you, me
For you, for me.
I turned the binds over myself,
tied the knots,
built the castle walls,
they protect you as if I'm an army,
made without will
but call and duty,
I made you -
bore you from my body,
created the importance of your design.
I was born on a Friday,
and you were born on a Friday -
the feeding, bathing,
sleeping, rising,
holding, teaching,
modelling.
I ride the desert plains
without clear location,
it's dizzying and vast -
following your lead
and I don't regret a...

CadenceSong
a young soldier consoles his beloved
“Harmony is the inner cadence of contentment we feel when the
melody of life is in tune.”—Sarah Ban Breathnach
in a little while,
i'll be home with you again;
though the war is vile,
soon, i leave behind the pain.
how i miss your smile—
soft cheek-music to my heart!
in a little while,
peace shall villainy outsmart.
i will wake with you
when tight nights have dreamt their dreams;
morning rendezvous
will dissolve...

a deadly heritage
"I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity."
- Dwight D. Eisenhower
i was a soldier in the war
and now i give massages
i wore grenades and tools that mar
but now i wear corsages
the battlefront was hot as hell
and blood spilled out like water
now at the homefront where i dwell
my days are filled with laughter
my trembling wife abhorred the thought
i'd be her brave, dead hero ...

Mr. Prime Minister
Based on true events
On Tuesday morning, evil men and women raided Lincoln Road.
It was a joint police/military operation in the rush hour.
The Jamaican security forces swarmed the area like locusts.
And the damn idiots claimed that they were looking for criminals.
Why did they not search the House of Parliament first?
Mr. Prime Minister, do you regard this as police intelligence?
Do Jamaican police and soldiers know the meaning of criminal?
Some dictionaries define criminal as a person who has committed a crime,
But you cannot call...

The Self-crowned emperor of the French
In seventeen sixty nine a child was born
in Corsica, Genoa's former vassal state.
Prior to his birth, his land had been war-torn.
Paoli's resistance did his birth predate.
At school, his geometrical talent was inborn,
and he was tutored by none other than Laplace.
For his accent, his peers at school laughed him to scorn,
but fortune would elevate him from grass to grace.
With his much older heartthrob he tied the knot;
much to the chagrin of his own dear family.
For the heart of Josephine he relentlessly fought,

All war is unjust
You celebrate your murderers like they won you a war
And what for? Is my question. Do you pass inspection?
No genuflection; no halo you own.
You gun down the innocent and gnaw on their bones,
Like the savages you are, you fallen stars,
Are dead to me. I see such glee.
Oh the pain you reap.
Your just reward, for an unjust war,
For all are…is a silver star on your heart.
