Promises
Can you scratch my back?
Maybe. What's in it for me?
I'll give you the world.
Maybe. What's in it for me?
I'll give you the world.

Read (past tense) the Directions
To know the rhyme scheme of a sonnet
I must perhaps use Google, to find it,
then, by search, when I happen upon it,
I'll see the rhyming and then will mind it.
The English form is three stanzas of four
lines that rhyme "ABAB", then two "G's".
Each line has syllables of ten, no more
rhyming lines, C, D, E, F, in between.
The Petrachan form is beyond my scope
of what else I can stuff inside my brain.
It's overpacked now, and I cannot cope-- ...

A POET'S LAMENT
i have no secrets left
everything has been surrendered -- it was all mundane and of little interest to anyone
all my catastrophes -- the hair loss, the unrequited affections, etc. -- were apparently flashes in the pan of an ordinary life,
worthy of a sympathetic nod or a little reassurance
or maybe some half-assed advice from a stranger eating a stale doughnut in a church basement
all my addictions were easily overcome
my proclivities were banal -- i said banal -- with a "b"
all my sins were venial -- the priest sighed
and i said...

A Voice Like Volcano
A Voice Like Volcano
There once was a woman from Khartoum
Who wanted to sing like Oum Kaltoum
She first tried soprano
It was like volcano
That Oum Kaltoum woke up from her tomb

The Night Phantom
Silence--
night had fallen
breath held
anticipation....
I checked my watch
once more--
"Go" time
Knife out--
I inserted the tip
into the lock
Click!
"Ssshhhh..."
I was in.
(so much to do, so little time)
Must hurry--
Excitement welling fast
There they are...
let the slashing, commence
I removed the protective cap
from the fine tip
and began
I did them all
Cutting marks
and lines
through each..

Typroze und Spell Czeckors
Am I speaking a foreign language on here?
How can my phone be so freekin' stupid
It has more memory than you and me
Ignoring the stroke in my occipitallobe
2 terabytes could download a better spell czeckor!
Messing up my comments and spoiling my poems
Making me say words I never meant to write
Imagine our mouths doing the same thing
Tongue twisters changing whatever we say
Whatever happened to the good old typewriter days
when white out would cover up all my mistakes?
Proofreading was an artform for which I got paid

The Queen and Mrs Smith
Once upon a regal day, with flair and marvelous pomp, I say,
The Queen, a turkey-like lady fair in red curly wig, led the way.
With ruff and diamonds, she stood tall and proud,
Neurotic and clean, her obsessions allowed.
Beside her stood Mrs Smith,
A teapot of a woman.
In bonnet, white apron and with
Ample bosom.
Silent and enigmatic,
No words to share, only grunts that were automatic
To the travelers ear.
Her hidden eyes, a mystery to all,
With a protruding tooth, like a single pearl not small.
Off they...

Cartoon Foolery
So, I write to inform and entertain my neighbors and audiences
I’ll spend a whole day mixin’ and spittin’ some words
Listening to my favorite tunes on streaming platforms
Sometimes, thoughts pour out, and then I save them for later
Reread it another day when I’m more sober
I put everything into perspective in my writings, yo
Whether I’m running for office or not, my process is serious
But the other day, I wrote some spoken word that didn’t make sense
Yet, it was genius, like to hear it here it goes:
As the sistah that synthesizes the simple shit,...

The Quiet Man
The man next door
Was in his forties
And I was only thirteen.
We talked from time
To time, though
He was a quiet man.
A man of few words.
He didn't want to be
The center of attention.
A man with no ego,
A bachelor, never married.
A humble man,
Protector of the innocent.
At the park
He watched the children
Play and fed the birds.
He picked up other people's
Trash and put it in the bin.
He went to church regularly.
Gave tithes liberally and cheerfully.
He paid the widow's...

The Meaning was Breakfast
I’ve been thinking about the meaning
The meaning is that I think about the meaning
The meaning is what you make of the meaning
is the tear I drank and the laugh I spat
is the body and the hole—
The nipple and the suckle
and the finger
Is the “no!”
and the yes
and the mind that doesn’t know—
The meaning
is the thought and the aching
is what you make of the meaning
is the poem and the painting and the song with the wanting
Stop!
Make me feel
something anything anyone
Now tomorrow going...
