Treating Love Letters Like Junk Mail
She told the police on her boyfriend
They nailed him with a suitcase full of heroin
He was tried & sent to jail
She was paid in full, the money that she was promised for helping out
She moved into a nice apartment
After a while, she got some letters from him
He didn't know that she was the one that had set him up
His letters were full of declarations of eternal love
The only thing that kept him going was thinking of her each & every day he sat in his rotten, stinking cell
She laughed at the letters and threw them away

lies and fiction
sensational painful hurt
keen in metaphors and slam the door
on all double talkers
cruelty is its own master
the divinity of the flesh causes distrust
you eat lust and dust
dangling a pretty carrot
will you also eat from a liar's breast
instinctual education I was your love
disappearing memories I see the sky alone
and a sun that burns
you can only reach so high
before the clouds dissipate
and your imaginary dinosaurs disappear
with a light wind
leaning on my kindness
is it folly to think it...

I hate that I was attracted to you.
I hate that you affect me.
I hate wanting you.
I hate it all you see.
It started off great.
It was so sweet.
A twinkle in your eye.
I shuffled my feet.
Then you asked.
I said yes.
You wore a suit.
I wore a dress.
The meal was nice.
The talk was brief.
Didn’t want to say goodbye.
Didn’t want to go to sleep.
The night was perfect.

she used to look at me like she hated me
...my mother's mother...
wanted to erase my existence from her reality
mom always said it was all in my head
...that I was just being too sensitive
{I got that a lot growing up...}
until one holiday when I was 15
that woman sent a box of presents
lovely wrapped packages for mom & my sister
...complete with shimmery bows & pretty labels
each of them receiving warm fluffy robes
{they even had big pockets!}
...& matching slippers for them both ...

darkness doesn't need stars or a spark to highlight itself
gently shrinks the twilight's brimming eyes
to a bokeh of starry diamonds in fluffiness
flows from the frontally stared nothings
to the unfocusingly glanced sideways
in some subtleties
how easy it is for you
to shed this love
and wear on
those fading shades
at such rudity precision and pace
that even shames a chameleon
how whorish you try make me feel
from your roughened tongue
that's dismembered
from lively arterial strings
since unremembered times
as you spell black and white...

I'LL BOTHER YOU NO MORE
YES
I am a slow
learner but
once I learn
it is never
forgotten or
worth spending
idle time trying
to go through
a dead-end..
I
tried being coy,
casual and up front.
sometimes feeling
a brief ray of hope;
BUT
I have learned another
lesson in the life
of a wannabe poet:
"Enough fooling yourself."
I
will never bother
YOU again.

She broke his heart
And wounded his soul;
His hormones badly
Needed control.

BILLY - THE REVOLUTIONIST!
I feel like a revolutionist today, folks!
Armed & ready to fight prejudice -
With my words!
I had a dose of it last night.
Was told I was not welcome at a certain wine bar,
Situated here, near where I live.
Was told to watch my back -
Just because I'm English!
I only went along for the Karaoke...
Unfortunately,
The guy never saw the person behind the mask -
Never gave him a chance!
After all, I could've been the English guy,
Who fought to save his daughter's life,
The surgeon; instead, fighting...

Why have you forsaken me?
Dawn of our journey.
We found our path,
an embrace like a first station,
hope in every breath.
Together we walked facing fears
in the sacred spring.
The weight of the cross came
as doubt whispered in the wind.
Our love staggered under its heavy burden.
With each step, the road grew steeper,
yet, we bore the weight
through shared tears and laughter.
We stumbled and fell thrice
in moments of despair.
We rose, driven by the light in our eyes.
Giving strength to carry on and believe in us.
