she used to look at me like she hated me
...my mother's mother...
wanted to erase my existence from her reality
mom always said it was all in my head
...that I was just being too sensitive
{I got that a lot growing up...}
until one holiday when I was 15
that woman sent a box of presents
lovely wrapped packages for mom & my sister
...complete with shimmery bows & pretty labels
each of them receiving warm fluffy robes
{they even had big pockets!}
...& matching slippers for them both ...

a gift
do not
bring
yourself as
a gift
to me,
give me
the chance
to
unwrap you,
then take
it back.

THE LONELY ONE
The lonely person often walks unnoticed
with unsteady step and eyes unfocused,
failing to keep pace within the crowd.
An approach of reluctance to everything,
like a crutch under the arm that stings,
maintaining balance amidst turbulence.
Seeing, yet, did not recognize nor care,
as if that person was as normal as you,
beneath the shrouded cloak they wear.
Loneliness can feed on pure isolation,
depression its friend, little is noticed,
there's signals, a lack of communication.
Loneliness has its very own...
with unsteady step and eyes unfocused,
failing to keep pace within the crowd.
An approach of reluctance to everything,
like a crutch under the arm that stings,
maintaining balance amidst turbulence.
Seeing, yet, did not recognize nor care,
as if that person was as normal as you,
beneath the shrouded cloak they wear.
Loneliness can feed on pure isolation,
depression its friend, little is noticed,
there's signals, a lack of communication.
Loneliness has its very own...

Blissful Illiteracy
I had twelve years old, and dreams so young
Dreamed To be a future poet as life was so long
I had twenty two, and dreams even younger
Yearned for poems written when getting older
I had thirty three, dreams started to land
They started to slow down, when ascend
Then forty four, dreams stopped to soar
Shoulder weighed down by the loads i bore
Now past fifty, dreams are only winged words
Lazing like those birds hovering above the herds
And then, i envy those care free sleepy...
Dreamed To be a future poet as life was so long

Remains
Don't come to me with promises of eternal love,
not even with looks that promise hell.
I already know this road, this path
where every step is a thorn.
Don't enchant me with soft words
nor promises of new dances.
I already know that at the end of the song,
all that remains is loneliness.
Don't talk to me about burning passion
and not from a heart that lies.
I've seen this movie, I already know the ending,
where love is just a gale.
Don't promise me the brightness of the stars
and don't fill me with beautiful...
not even with looks that promise hell.
I already know this road, this path
where every step is a thorn.
Don't enchant me with soft words
nor promises of new dances.
I already know that at the end of the song,
all that remains is loneliness.
Don't talk to me about burning passion

I've seen this movie, I already know the ending,
where love is just a gale.
Don't promise me the brightness of the stars
and don't fill me with beautiful...
