Being Good Humans
Wisdom
Like pillars of humanity and understanding
Wisdom is a guiding light in a life
We see the world, we see the truth
Able to discern what is wrong and what is right
Courage
Like a guardian at the gate of our minds
Courage stands strong ready to defend
With inner strength and steady determination
The heart’s fortress will be resilient
Justice
Like a moral compass showing us true north
We’ll learn the principles of fairness and rightness
Allowing us to make decisions in virtue and equity
Falling in alignment...

Who am I?
Who am I?
Am I even me?
Who is the I that asks the question?
Where am I?
Am I even here?
Who is the I who perceives this space?
What am I?
Am I even alive?
Who is the I who creates this reality?
When am I?
Do I even exist?
Who is the I that perceives time?
How am I?
Can this world be true?
Who defines knowledge and who are you?
Am I even me?
Who is the I that asks the question?
Where am I?

The Sound of Silence
It is a lost echo
a wandering ghost
an empty room in a Victorian house
It is dust piled on unopened books
a writer’s empty page
a slow winter snowfall
It is incense burning
warm sunshine upon dozing cats
the steady growth of a plant
It is that pause between breaths
an unvisited gravestone
a still woodland pond
It is the artist’s inner concentration
the awe at gazing upon shooting stars
the stage in an empty theatre

Always Arriving
human beings:
we fear
beginning
without knowing
when we will be done.
human beings:
living is our
flesh and blood adventure.
spirits journeying together
into waiting after lives.
human beings:
one day
we’re born,
we live,
we grieve,
we celebrate,
and one day,
we pass on
to become
ancestors.
human beings:
it all matters.
life is not linear.
it is cyclical
and labyrinthine,
obstacles...
we fear
beginning
without knowing
when we will be done.

A story of Mom and me (and you)
Just a girl in the 40s with expansive thoughts,
wearing pigtails and coke-bottle glasses --
they knew she was different; they even ran tests,
but found no diagnosis to label
a girl with a hunger and singular drive
to unpack the whole human condition.
She did it through books, for she wasn’t content
to just live her one given life.
In search of connection, the characters there
were as real as the ones in the flesh.
And though she did marriage, and children, and jobs,
it was story that held her attention.
She studied...

The Apple and the Tree
I’ve often wondered about these phrases
“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”
Or
“The sins of the father are visited upon…”
But now that I have sons, I reflect on it in poetry
My father made his own choices and paid dearly
Just as his father did when he died somewhat young
So, am I destined to make the same mistakes?
Or did I break the cycle, if I may be sharp tongued
I’ve tried to write verses of nurture versus nature
With curses and swears that I would never be that way
I just made brand new mistakes, slip-ups and...

Infinitely inherent

Infinitely inherent
Lately, i feel quite fatigued
spiritually weak and tired
drowning in personal sweat
all to consuming
eating away day in, night out
immanently opposite
lusting to break free
from the gravitational pull
of Gaia’s keep
. . . . .
i am more than ready
for the transcendent
experience
we all will gain
( Releasing
that which a higher plane
of enlightened energies
enveloped all ...

Being
What does it mean to be beings that are being?
Can a being be being if it’s not being a being?
What IS a being? What IS being?
Are we all beings being? Or are some not so being?
Are we always being being?
Or are we never being being?
To being? Or not to being?
Is what a being being being would say ✨
