You Called
You didn’t have much to say
But you tried
It’s a start
It doesn’t matter
That there’s not much time left
But you tried
It’s a start
It doesn’t matter
That there’s not much time left

There Is A Hunger In My skin
there is a hunger in my skin
it goes away but comes again
this hunger was there from long ago
it gave my life a rocky start
regardless of this I would be remiss
if I didn't say I loved you in spite of this
I know the hunger stemmed in part
from all the pain inside your heart
I'm sure you loved me the best you could
in just the way a mother should
it goes away but comes again
this hunger was there from long ago
it gave my life a rocky start
regardless of this I would be remiss
if I didn't say I loved you in spite of this
I know the hunger stemmed in part

Mom
the dying of a soul doesn't happen in a moment
it is with a light so bright I shine
the world covets my kind
brutally receiving my tenderness and honesty
drinking from my feelings they get drunk off of them
cast from the light it's kill or be killed among them
in the darkness my inner glow gave warmth year in and out
always offering all I have whether it be a friendly smile or money to help
people didn't see the genuine kindness behind the acts
instead, they take it for weakness within
only my...

Mother Knows
Mother
Do you know what you’ve done
Did you see what you did
Was all for fun
Was he really worth it
Would he come back now
When he took his due
Was the night for him
Or did he care for you
Daughter
Mother please don’t cry
I know what I’ve done
I chose him well
He is really the one
He loves me true
This I swear to you
When the sun will rise
He’ll be standing before you
Mother
Her heart did break
Her sweet little one
Gave all her love

Mother’s Day
You laid a path for me to follow
Though sometimes life can be hard to swallow
But you were there to hold my hand
And encourage me to step off the beaten path
You painted a world alive and green
And helped open my blue eyes to see
On this day now I recognize
Your caring influence in my life
Now I walk fast while you walk slow
But by this you still teach me how to grow
And with your age you will see
There’s still a child holding your hand…
…that’s me 🥰

You painted a world alive and green

Dreary Day
Overcast
All day
I remember my Mom
Latter years
She'd get so depressed
I'd try to cheer her up
Parkinsons Disease though
There was no cheering
Not even a chance
She was so stoic
Sucked it up
No choice
Today reminds me of those days
Pit of the stomach blues
I'll suck it up too
Go pet my dog
Maybe she'll lick my face
She's good like that

20 of 30
when she turned 70
mom announced she wanted to skydive for her 80th
to get the full impact of that declaration
you need to know my mother
bravest she'd ever been was defying her parents
marrying my father
(come to think of it...that's no small feat...)
2 strokes & a pandemic later
she's no longer as steady on her feet
she tires more easily
only 3 birthdays yet to go until that slated date
...it isn't looking likely
I wish I had the courage to go
...in her place
make the jump in...

Ode to my Mother
My mother in the depths of her pain and sorrow
had a strength and tenacity that all should borrow
selfless sacrifices should be an example to follow
she was stoic to the end faithful to her vow
she endured her husband cruel blows
shielding her children from his punches
waking up with black eyes and bleeding nose
enduring the pain as she went about her chores
she was a lynch pin, holding everyone together
loving my wayward brothers even as they wandered
working in the paddy field to feed them
thatching the roofs to keep us all...

Mom's B-Day
Today is my mom's
birthday she had fun
today because she
spend it with her
family talking about
the good old days
So mom this poem
goes out for you
so you may have
many more b-days
with your crazy ass

Perspective
There are never adequate words
to describe the loss of a child—
that is what you must realize
when extending sympathies
Each child is individual, unique
in their own respective existence;
there is an emptiness regardless
of how many siblings remain
Things not to say to a mother
grieving the death of her child:
"At least you have more children"
"At least you have the other twin"
"Did he just die, or commit suicide?"
"At least you had years with him;
some lose them at birth, ...

Christmas Past
I saw my long dead parents in my dreams;
All scripture, spectacles, shortbread and tea.
That madness was their status quo, it seems,
As my less stately madness was for me.
But oh how high their grace and goodwill heaped
Along with the presents under the tree
Where the dangle branch tinsel season reaped
Silver scenes of serene infinity...
Sure to haunt me through my silvering years
Of ornamentation and colored lights
Scintillating through all the wineglass cheers
And welcome warmth of wassailing nights
Where phantasm adoring darkness...
All scripture, spectacles, shortbread and tea.
That madness was their status quo, it seems,
As my less stately madness was for me.
But oh how high their grace and goodwill heaped
Along with the presents under the tree
Where the dangle branch tinsel season reaped
