Illusionary Morning Ineptitude
I love the gentle splash of balance as the motor begins to whir
I see the raindrops of the mind falling softly against the snow
At a snail’s speed I begin to read and all slips from my mind
With quotidian heartbreak I face the day and gently bequeath my moans
Shirking and shying away from work
Shirking and shying because it hurts
Few would know the pain of this particular predicament
Constructed by shy and painful minds
Truth be told I hate them all, their constructs of power
Enforced by the bullies
But down the hole, far from our...

can you see
an uploading
dawn
arranging
those silver
intervals
across
her sky
with precision,
the
day's heat
soon enough
to turn
the shade
trees
into kingdoms,
that is
where
i can
be found,
watching
the rest
of
the day
unfold.

early singing
even well
before
the sleep
has left
my morning
eyes,
i have
heard
early singing
coming from
the trees
within
the confines
of
my yard,
happy little
tunes
that help
wake up
the sun,
after it
unhinges,
it rises
in such
a bright
fashion.

the past re visited
the past revisited
He was going back to his home in a tiny village from
where people congregated living close together and professed to hate it, the absence of war had cost the country dearly, and unemployment was high, like the enforced idleness had made people apathetic
there were no cars on the road, petrol was too expensive
for people, as was electricity to recharge batteries
how the situation was in other countries, no one knew as the fabled internet was forbidden
it had it was said
a bad influence on the young who believed the rubbish ...

Amoosing Coffee Cup
I watch you lift that coffee cup
up to your caffeine-loving lips
gently blowing the heat away
before taking a bitter sip.
While reading the Sunday paper
not paying any attention to me
I stare off into the distance
wondering if we’re meant to be.
Then I glance your way again
as your still holding that silly cup
it reads: I Find You Very Amoosing
with a goofy-looking moose
plastered on the front.
You lay the paper down
and finally look my way
giving me a little wink and grin
I know you’re...

counting stars
it all
began
seemingly
innocent
enough,
that great
task,
to go
outside,
to count
the stars,
ones
that wait
just above
my head,
these pleasures
woke up
the moon,
it became
happy
woke up
the sun,
but he
was not
happy,
and now
waiting
on his
jealousy
to run
its course,
i will
get back
to counting
more stars
when
the sun
again
relents
his sky.

My Morning Coffee
I gave some French Chicory coffee a try,
a premium dark roast, it was a good buy.
Its flavor is kind of spicy and bittersweet,
such an unexpected treat!
I just brew it in my Mr. Coffee machine,
like any other ground coffee bean.
No caffeine and healthy too,
that’s a win-win for me and you!

free leaf (destination)
i sat
on
my couch,
facing
the partially
cleared view,
i watched
outside,
there,
a low
hanging limb,
golden leaves
abundant,
occasionally,
a leaf
would leap
away from
the limb,
and i
wondered
about
its destination,
i wondered
if
the leaf
knew
where it
may end up,
or,
if it
minded
at all.

Breakfast
A tiny moth bounces,
around my kitchen light,
above my oven flame,
of the softest white.
It's captured in the steam,
from my cream of wheat,
wings twirling gently down,
slowly falling it would seem.
Dropping down into the boil,
of my silver aluminum pot,
a little added protein,
stirred in, forever caught.

you keep leaving me
in my cage
in this false light
i cling to tears
dusk falling
i remember you
awkward visits
sleep
you know the way
strike too short
be insolent, be mad
go away
without chance of fire
night is deserting
the moon and stars
precious possessions
lost
when i awoke
dreams scatter
pass cold window sills
day is renewing
in this false light
i cling to tears
dusk falling

Every Morning (much the same)
traffic's murmur, morning light
sunshine promising a bright
beginning to another day
while falling on me where I lay
contemplating in between
waking up and last night's dream
in my hypnagogic mind
slipping in and out of time -
bodily functions then Qi Gong
meditation going on
fixed and focused once again
every morning much the same
breathing air by ocean blown
foot of mountains in my home
seasons changing, summer looms
morning glories are white blooms
by the sea whose sparkling
reminds...

the big bang
The big bang
Albert Einstein, in a dreamy mood, said the Big Bang
was when the future, the now and the past happened all at once
It was seventy-two years ago I was sent to a farm
for unruly children
Where I was accepted by the animals that thought of me
as another beast working for the man
Except for the chickens, they hated me with a passion
they would, had they been giants, have eaten me as a worm
I was the one who had to go into the hen house and steal
the warm eggs the hens were clucking about.
On the attic of the farm, I found...
